I really like what Perkins brings to the table with his athleticism and accuracy (career 64.5 %). Not sure where he falls in the draft, but I would love to pick him up if possible. I'm looking forward to watching all of his drills leading up to the draft.

Set the UVA single-season passing record with 3,538 yards in 2019. In just two seasons 2018-19 (transferred from ASU) he set the UVA career record for total offense with 7,910 yards. In 2019 he broke his own single-season record for total offense with 4,307 yards. Leaves UVA tied with Matt Schaub for No. 2 all-time with 17 quarterback wins...No. 3 all-time with 47 career passing touchdowns... No. 1 all-time in UVA quarterback career rushing with 1,692 yards...No. 2 all-time at UVA with 16 career games of 200+ passing...No. 3 all-time at UVA with five career games of 300+ passing yards. He helped Virginia to the ACC Coastal Division title in 2019 and the program's first appearance in the Orange Bowl. His total offense yardage was the top in the ACC and ranked sixth nationally. Perkins was a second-team All-ACC pick as a senior and won the Dudley Award for the second consecutive year, which is presented by the Touchdown Club of Richmond to the state player of the year.

In short, Perkins scored 67 TD's in his career (27 games) at Virginia (47 passing, 20 rushing). Last season he had runs of 39, 65 and 67 for TD's and got four of his five career 300 yard passing games. His Brother Paul Perkins played RB for the gnats last season, but is currently a free agent. His Father Bruce Perkins played RB for the Bucs and Colts in 90'-91' and his Uncle is our own ROH member RB Don Perkins.

You can watch him play next week here...

So draftniks, what do you think of Bryce Perkins and what round could he go?

Don’t know anything about the guy but with Daks contract talks I could see us drafting one in the later rounds. We’ll definitely some arms if the talks take a while

If we could snag Perkins in the later rounds, that would be a great pickup IMO. I don't see him having any problems beating out Cooper Rush that's for sure. I think Perkins has a lot of upside and he could be a legit dual threat QB. He needs to work on his footwork when passing etc, but his running ability allows him to escape pressure and make plays when nothing is there too. Not to mention, defenses will have to adjust their scheme with his ability to take it to the house if he's not contained properly. I like his toughness and leadership and his family has been all about football since he was born. I suppose Perkins is my pet cat right now and kind of a sleeper pick as well. I really like him as a QB prospect more than some others out there and would like to see him in a Cowboy uniform.

Our #2 needs to be a vet QB

Perkins can be #3 if he’s a late pick but I would rather use that spot at another position

People hate it. But Brett Hundley player under McCarty. He can be brought in super cheap and can play in a pinch. But what #2 will be and be super cheap

If we’re a real contender we need someone like that who knows the system, can help Dak in game and can come in in a pinch

I don't like the idea of paying Dak 35 mil on the tag AND paying millions more for a vet QB. Perkins has that extra ability to escape pressure and take it to the house just like he did in college. I'm all for getting THAT kind of player in the later rounds, instead of having some career backup QB. He can play in all 5 preseason games (Cowboys play HOF game?) and learn the system under fire, so I'm not worried about Perkins being ready if needed. If MM decides to go with 3 QB's fine, but I think a developing rookie QB with potential should be on the grocery list.

I agree completely. But I would rather him than an aging vet at any price. But where is this 35 Mil coming from? I'm pretty sure the FT will be around 27M for 2020.

Yes, don't know why I mentioned the tag in there. I was thinking more about Dak's salary this year based on a new contract.
Over The Cap currently says the franchise tag will be $26,895,000 for QB in 2020.

Yeah. I think the exclusive franchise tag might be in the 30s. But there would be no reason for the Cowboys to use that tag.

Maybe in the 6th or 7th. He a 5th year Sr who came to VA from ASU & AWC.
The few games I watched, he didn't seem to have the ability to scan the field if his quick read wasn't open. Was a bit panicky in the pocket, and quick to run. I dont know if if was the spread system, but they didn't go downfield much.

No he is not . They are installing a WCO. Moore is just calling plays.
McCarthy literally said that they're keeping the same language and building off of last year.

David Helman:It's not a shock to me that Mike McCarthy opted to let Kellen Moore remain in place as the Cowboys' play caller. But what did surprise me was his game plan for the offense, which is to build off what Moore has already put in place – including keeping the language and terminology the Cowboys have already used in previous years. Think about that for a second. Mike McCarthy has been coaching since 1987, which was before Kellen Moore was born. He spent six years as an NFL offensive coordinator and 13 years as a head coach. For him to adjust his terminology and his preferences for Moore, who is entering just his second season as an offensive coordinator, is pretty impressive. To me, that's a really encouraging sign about the ways McCarthy plans to adapt in his second opportunity as a head coach.

Missed that. Last thing I had seen before was that Moore was calling plays but we were adopting a WCO

Recruited him when he was in high school and then ended up coaching against him in junior college. Great athlete who really, I mean really improved as a passer. His neck will be critical, whether or not he passes medicals (ASU though he'd never play again), but he's an amazing athlete and really good kid. Rooting for him and loved what he did at Virginia.

The Virginia offense triggers from the shotgun and is predicated on the short passing game and the quarterback's ability to make plays. The QB has a pass play called and if his targets aren't there he is coached to run, so I dunno if you were seeing panic or just Perkins looking to make something happen. It's a major part of the Virginia run game that I guess Virginia fans got used to. Perkins came out of Arizona as a spectacular runner but his passing ability was a huge surprise. He has a rocket for an arm and is just learning how to use it. This is the offense that showcased Tysom Hill, btw.

I should add, the UVA offense uses a lot of quick, horizontal passing but they do throw long some and Bryce showed a really nice long-ball touch at times. He was a little inconsistent but he's just starting as a passer. My bet is that Baltimore drafts him to back up Jackson. Same type of player.
