I am torn on this stuff. Clearly the intentions here are a good thing. I have completely flipped on Smith though. Any other player I would like this. Smith? Just seems phony to me. This guy is all about his brand and image. I wish he would have mastered football a few more seasons before diving head first into this stuff. It seems like such a distraction for a guy that repeatedly avoided contact as a NFL linebacker. I see more of that this coming season and I will be convinced the guy isn’t serious about football but is really serious about being Jaylon Smith.

Am I wrong here?

Don’t confuse a variety of interests for a lack of commitment

Jaylon being all about Jaylon is a meme at this point. I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

He’s trying to make a difference and use his platform to improve people’s lives. Nothing negative about that.

I know we would often like for these young men to do nothing but live in a one-bedroom adjacent to the practice facility and lift, eat right and study film with maybe a few hours a day to play video games, but that’s not a life and it’s not realistic.

It will be ok

Dak is better than Mahomes.
I am a Dak believer but let's get real Mahomes is a rare talent and what's scary is he can get even better considering his young football age. Dak is very good, and so willing to improve and with the new, deep coaching staff the players will be more effective on both sides of the ball including special teams.

Over shoot. I do not want them living next to the practice facility. I would prefer they not run away from tackles and not sell sunglasses during the season.

Smith clearly suffers from a lack of self awareness. It’s a problem.

The lack of self-awareness. I seem to recall that being an oft-cited criteria used by the HOF committee.

pretty sure almost every 25 year old millionaire probably shares that critical character flaw

It’s a slow news cycle and I’m not going to get too excited about it.

Don't give a rats butt about the off the field stuff, as long as it's legal I saw him not moving normally on the field last year, that concerns me.

It's the offseason. Let him do what he pleases, as long as he ain't getting arrested or doing drugs.

He wants to do this stuff? Cool, if it means a lot to him do it man.

But just hope once M.C. starts these guys are 100% committed to football throughout the season.

How can a guy who what’s 6th in tackles in the NFC be crapped on for avoiding contact? What the hell?

We need for another LB to stop up. And have a HC and a staff that won’t put up with sub par performance. If you ain’t getting it done you need to be held accountable. It’s not just him. It’s the culture he has been surrounded with. Time for the change.

My friend when you have a DL like Dallas does the LBs get lots of tackles. A causal viewing of the games especially in the second half of the season will show 54 doing lots of hopping around and bad angles to avoid contact.

I don’t like his post play celebrations especially when they’re behind by 20 pts but you’re wrong about him repeatedly avoiding contact. His # of tackles (seeking contact) prove you to be wrong.
