What does Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson have in common? They both were 3rd/4th round picks that because of their success at QB as rookies allowed there teams 4 years to stockpile talent (draft, FA, re-signings) to challenge for a Super Bowl.

The difference is that Pete Carroll is a better Coach/GM than Jerry Jones. 4 years on Russell Wilson rookie deal the Seahawks went to 2 Super Bowls and 4 straight playoff appearances. The players he accumulated prior to getting his QB and the players drafted/signed after allowed this to happen. Even after rebuilding, the Seahawks are a team that is contending for a Super Bowl consistently in the playoffs 8 of 10 with Carroll as HC and 7 of 8 years with Russell Wilson at QB.

Jerry Jones had the same opportunity hitting a double with Dak and Zeke in 2016. However he did nothing to move the team from 2016. He got rid of Dez, kept Jason Garrett as Head Coach, did not sign any defensive free agents to move the team forward, let all the starting LBs (excluding the injured ones) , S, and CBs walk, traded away CB Chavarius Ward, let the Lions get CB Micheal Jackson, and gave away his 2017 no.1 draft pick freely to the Dolphins in 2019.

So why would and should Dak Prescott take a discount on his contract to get to a Super Bowl allowing Jerry "jocks and socks GM" Jones to build a team around him? Jerry Jones has a 25 year track record of not getting to a Super Bowl as GM. In fact Jerry did not build around Dak, he subtracted from Dak.

So a home town discount was not earned by GM Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott should hold out for the bank.

He’s not gonna take a discount and he’s said he didn’t think he deserved Wilson money
So I suspect he will be just under that
I don’t think salary is as big of an issue as years
He want short term to get another pay day right after the cba and Mahommes gets signed
Jerry wants long term because he knows in a couple years it will be relatively cheap for QB money
They will meet in the middle and it’s done

I think Dak himself would disagree with you. And he has intimated as much several times.

Honest question for you. Did you ever watch Russell play in College?

because hes not RW hes not elite so he gets less..dont blame Jerry for last season when Dak did not help the cowboys win any of the most important game son our schedule.. there are similarities but RW is clearly better so Dak doesnt deserve more then him..period..

FT No exclusive lets find out what hes worth but im not paying a penny over 32 if im Jerry..its why the deal isnt done. a gap in Daks worth in his mind to his actual worth..

The quickest way to turn the fanbase against Dak would be for him to hold out. Zeke is nowhere near as popular as he was before his hold out and the same would happen to Dak. Long story short, a Dak hold out is not happening. A new contract will be agreed on in the spring.

meh dudes going to be one of the highest paid overrated QBs of all time..hope i'm wrong but hes worth 28-30 mil and IDC years no years I was on Daks side for years, the way he finished 2019 slid me to the center , now im left to the IDC if he signs long term or not because he simply not the type that should get that type of Market deal..hes 2nd tier and id take a qb for half what hes asking because it wouldn't be abig drop off IMO..

dude lost me demanding that much cheddar when he didnt even come close to carrying this team when we needed him the last 6 weeks..in fact he choked..

so whomever is the qb ill support them but no longer a Dak fan..

Please hold out until Jerry gets fed up and moves on to drafting a real QB. I hope Dak refuses to accept less than 50 million a year. That would cool Jerry’s jets.

I understand the logic behind paying Dak. I may disagree with it but you can make a case for it with statistics, delayed cap hits, expanding salary caps, etc.

I absolutely positively 100% do not understand actively ROOTING for Dak to get a big contract. That should be a bannable offense because this is a COWBOYS forum and every dollar that one player gets comes from someone else. The more money Dak gets, the tougher the position the Cowboys are in. That's not debatable.

I think the haters agenda that Dak is holding out to be the highest paid QB is boloney. Now, he may end up being paid as such, but that’s not his priority. He’s more interested the the details of the contract that protects him long term.

Exactly. Prescott should be given a standard market rate QB contract in the model of Wentz and Goff. It is the Cowboys and their moronic insistence that he execute a longer term contract that is holding this entire process up. This is all the more insulting as Dak has ALREADY been paid nothing over the last 4 years.

If I was Dak I tell the Jones to go kick rocks if they continue to force a contract that is out of line with other franchise QB contracts.

Dak Prescott has made just over $4 million for 4 years of play. He has probably been the most underpaid athlete relative to his performance in the entire NFL. He should squeeze every penny he can out of the cap and use any leverage he needs in order to do so. Whether he does it or not remains to be seen.

I don’t think the price is out of line and I get why they want a long term deal
The GM’s job is to get deals done in the best interest of the team, the agents is the best interest of the player
They will meet in the middle and it will get done
