Dak Prescott Should Hold Out for the Bank

Only "Talent" holds out and unfortunately for us, Dak doesn't qualify!

What does Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson have in common? They both were 3rd/4th round picks that because of their success at QB as rookies allowed there teams 4 years to stockpile talent (draft, FA, re-signings) to challenge for a Super Bowl.

The difference is that Pete Carroll is a better Coach/GM than Jerry Jones. 4 years on Russell Wilson rookie deal the Seahawks went to 2 Super Bowls and 4 straight playoff appearances. The players he accumulated prior to getting his QB and the players drafted/signed after allowed this to happen. Even after rebuilding, the Seahawks are a team that is contending for a Super Bowl consistently in the playoffs 8 of 10 with Carroll as HC and 7 of 8 years with Russell Wilson at QB.

Jerry Jones had the same opportunity hitting a double with Dak and Zeke in 2016. However he did nothing to move the team from 2016. He got rid of Dez, kept Jason Garrett as Head Coach, did not sign any defensive free agents to move the team forward, let all the starting LBs (excluding the injured ones) , S, and CBs walk, traded away CB Chavarius Ward, let the Lions get CB Micheal Jackson, and gave away his 2017 no.1 draft pick freely to the Dolphins in 2019.

So why would and should Dak Prescott take a discount on his contract to get to a Super Bowl allowing Jerry "jocks and socks GM" Jones to build a team around him? Jerry Jones has a 25 year track record of not getting to a Super Bowl as GM. In fact Jerry did not build around Dak, he subtracted from Dak.

So a home town discount was not earned by GM Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott should hold out for the bank.

One key difference you failed to mention is Seattle built a top defense ( Id call a generational defense) which carried them with a strong running game. As the Cap tore apart that defense and list RB Wilson was called on to carry the team something I’m not sure Dak is capable of.

You either need an Elite defense or QB with rare exception to win a championship. We have neither.

I don't know Dak at all for holding out and getting all the coins he can. I may not like it as a fan that it'll take a significant portion of the cap. I also realize these guys have a finite opportunity to get the money to change their lives and their family's lives. No he shouldn't give a hometown discount. He hasn't made much money as a 4th round pick to begin with. Get your money young man. I'll never be pro ownership in any sport. If Jerry and Stephen don't want to pony up? Let him walk. I'd hate to see it as I suffered through Quincy, CHutch, Testeverde, Henson, Stoerner, Wright, Leaf, Bledoe, etc. Even if we can draft someone, what are you giving up to do that? Players? Picks? Most here agree that Dak is an above average QB? Since when is above average equal doo doo? You can win with Dak. Stop believing the myth that only Dak needs weapons around him. Hell for 3 quarters, Mahomes had as many weapons as anyone and didn't play well. IMO, Dak may be a better option that the other guy that started that game. You all are going to drive yourselves crazy with this. If they don't get a deal done, and instead, franchise Dak, we deserve whatever comes our way. I'd have no problem with him holding out. I’d go after a lower level QB than Brady. There’s several available I’d consider. And also consider draft for backup and possible to develop.

We should never be content with our QB unless they’re a proven champion.

Numerous. In fact, we can go all the way back to his rookie season being that's the fair thing to do.

Shoot, Dak walked into both Green Bay & Pittsburgh literally owning those so called vetran/elite quarterbacks Wodgers & Worthlisberger.

Plenty of other teams w/winning records he's beaten since his rookie season. We're blessed to have another quarterback besides Romo not only taking us beyond the regular season and to the playoffs, but winning one as well, especially under the horrid coaching of Garrett.
