This might be the brightest moment in the Joneses history of running the team, they're thinking about the team, not the star.
There are several probabilities why they're not meeting his demands. They're not as sold on him as they purport to be, Big Mike isn't completely sold on him to tie his 5 year contract to Prescott's and there are more options available to them than meet the eye.
Think about this from all of the owners' viewpoint, do they want a 2nd Tier QB setting the number to beat for the other QB's? If Prescott can get 35M, what will Mahomes, Jackson, Watson demand? It's one thing to have Rodgers, Ryan and Wilson at the top to set the market but there are some QB's coming up that are going to be bank breakers and maybe team breakers. My point is it would not surprise me for the Joneses to have heard from some fellow owners with QB's up that they do not plan on keeping, like LAC or maybe even NE or NE. If you were an owner which would you want to see, Prescott in at 35M or one of those 3 QB's on a short term 30-33M deal?
If they tag Prescott, that's when this is really going to get interesting, especially transition tag, my personal favorite. And just how did they get wind that he was unhappy when several days ago he wasn't worried and anticipated a deal getting done?
I want him tagged and able to seek employment elsewhere, I want to see if any team values him as the Joneses say they do. And other teams don't have 5 O players already in the top 6 paid, a WR1, 3 and CB up. Yes, the Joneses are responsible for that but is Prescott showing any concern for the team they can put around him? Or has he convinced himself he is at the level of a Tier 1 QB and deserving of being paid like it? Pure greed and selfishness and his comment that everyone can get paid was a stupid one and shows where his head is at.
I want him tagged and hope there is a team that takes the bait. I would take two 1sts for any player on this team.
