Yeah, I don't agree. The fan base was screaming for Haskins before the season ever started. Most people who really know the skins and watch football were against that move. If you look at Keenum early, here is what you see.

Against:
Philly 30/44, 68.2 Comp%, 380 yds, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, Rate 117.0
Dal 26/37, 70.27 Comp %, 221 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, Rate 103.5
Chi 30/43, 69.77 Comp %, 332 yds, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, Rate 78.8
NYG 6/11, 54.55 Comp %, 37 yds, 0 TDs, 1 INTs, Rate 23.7 (Keenum injured in this game, walking boot)
Mia 13/25, 52.0 Comp %, 166 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, Rate 99.7
SFO 9/12, 75.0 Comp %, 77 yds, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, Rate 91.3
Min 12/16, 75.0 Comp %, 130 yds, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, Rate 87.4
DET DNP
NYG 16/22, 72.73 Comp %, 158 Yds, 1 TDs, 0 INTs, Rate 107.8
Dal 18/37, 48.65 Comp %, 206 Yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, Rate 63.6

Season: 160/247, 64.78%, 1707 Yds, 11 TDs, 5 INTs, Rate 91.3

So if you look at his early games, before the injury, he would have likely had a monster season. As it was, playing hurt through the rest of the season and sharing time with Haskins etc., he still had pretty decent numbers. The idea that Keenum was terrible in Washington is just not true and the Skins were bad all over. That's not a good team over there IMO. I think he played a lot better then people give him credit for.

You’re right, and I hadn’t looked super closely at his 2019 until recently... but he wasn’t bad at all. As a matter of fact, as we know Dak was a below average QB when not playing the Commanders and Giants this year it wouldn’t surprise me if the biggest difference between the two this year was that Keenum didn’t play his own defense this year. I would like to run the numbers against their common opponents.

He’s been in the NFL 8 years and never had any other year close to that level. How is 1 year out of 8 not considered an anomaly?

He had even more passing yards the following year in Denver as their starter. And everybody knows what a **** show the Vance Joseph era was. But sure, one year in a new system and team is more than enough time to make an absolute determination.

There was an influx of posters who came from another board that shut down, and there they immediately called anyone who didn't go along with their point of view a Troll.
That's why it's becoming an issue here. When I first came here 12 years ago some of them followed me and began causing trouble then. I knew the folks on this board were generally more mature, so I left in order to keep them from ruining this place.
I am sorry you are having to deal with it.

Hey, I'm responsible for what I post. If there is apology to be made, it's mine to give and not yours. But I do appreciate you posting this so thank you for that.

Whenever you have an influx of posters, it takes some time. My responsibility to this staff and this board is to be better and to try and be part of the solution, not the problem. It's all good!

I've "lost" nothing. And you don't even have your years accurate. These are 2017 stats and Dak was a 2nd year player, not a rookie. You "lose" there too.

Neither quarterback's numbers had jack to do with how well their defense performed. The Dallas defense didn't throw for less yards and more interceptions. I know who's "lost" here. It's not me.

Do better if you want to come at me.

oh, thank you for bringing that to my attention...in 2016 in Dak's rookie year, dak averaged more passing yards than Keenum (your hero)… that's funny....he was heck of a lot better than this has been veteran.....he blew away his QB rating by almost 30 points...holy cow...I didn't realize that.

I think you just made my case for me.... he outplayed a veteran by a mile and half

in 2017 keenum threw only about 330 more yards... woohoo...lets all jump up and down together...….lets celebrate the greatness that's keenum….

oh, you suck at this....you are sinking yourself in quick sand head first

I'll use your own words against you if I have to:

"He passed for less than 3600 yards and only had 22 TDs that season in Minnesota"

That same year Dak threw for "less than 3400 yards and only had 22 TDs that season in Dallas.

Dak had 13 INT's to Keenum's 7.

Dak threw for more yards and TDs and fewer INT’s as a rookie during his 13-3 season than Keenum during his 13-3 season in Minnesota. Plus Keenan was in his 6th year when he led the Vikings to that 13-3 season. Dak had 13 INT’s to Keenum’s 7 this past season because he attempted 596 passes compared to only 247 attempts for Keenum. Keenum played in only 10 games. Boy did you just get shot down. lol

And he fell off in every other category besides total yardage. His QBR plummeted, his completion % dropped, he threw only 3 more TDs (18) than INTs (15) ...

you don't know if Dak can't play in McCarthy's system. you don't know if Keenum can play in that system? how can you say we don't know dak can play in MC's system, but Keenum is capable!!….

and we know Keenum is not capable. he is below average, given he has had losing records (since you said, that's the measuring stick) every where he has been, except for Minn, where he had a dominant #1 over defense and a top 10 rushing attack. without those two things he was among the worst.

so in regards to dak, I have argued and you can search up my posts from this past summer, I always thought he was a better fit for a WCO than a timing drop back offense that garrett and linehan were forcing him to...he is better thrower on the move and he is better in making the short quick throws and the medium throws...I think he will be a better QB if we are going to a WCO.

so you have circled back to you original argument....we don't know what will happen with Dak, so lets essentially move on....but like you said, we don't know. FA hasn't even started. nobody has been tagged yet. so there is a room full of assumptions on your argument....I don't think anyone is going to knock the doors down and rush to sign Keenum. we can take our time. see how things work and he can be option C, which will defintley put us in a rebuild mode, given he is 31, a journey man, never been dominant and is not going to get us to the big dance....

going for keenum first, is throwing in the towel, so if we do that, we might as well tear it all up and restart.

I never said Dak can't play in the WCO. I said we don't know and we don't but I do know what I've seen from him and his skill set does not fit IMO. He fits vertical.

I do know that Keenum fits WCO and he has shown it. I wonder if people just haven't really paid attention to Keenum. He's a lot better in the WCO then I believe you are giving him credit for. Now that's my opinion but I believe the stats do bear that out. This is not assumptions. This is all based on what I've seen from both QBs.

I don't know where this "going for Keenum first" thing is coming from. It's certainly not anything I've ever said but at this point, it's also not relevant. Dak has shown no interest in signing the deal the team has put in front of him. As far as I am concerned, that's on him, not me. If he doesn't want to sign, he doesn't want to sign. I'm looking at how you move forward with or without him and what makes us better if he decides to ccome back and get to camp. The rest is just noise. We will either do the things that allow us to compete or we won't. Time will tell.

so vance joseph is an A*** show, but Garrett an Linehan are great measuring stick...LOL...too funny....you have been one of the biggest linehan, garrett critics.....but hey lets excuse keenum for bad coaching, but lets ignore that for dak...it doesn't count

That benched thing was more about Haskins and Keenum's injury. I mean, if Dak was in Washington and he landed in a walking boot, as did Keenum, and you had a young QB that everybody wanted to see, yeah he would have. It would have been exactly the same IMO. Washington brought in Keenum to hold down the fort until Haskins was ready. Unfortunately, the HC was in deep water from the jump and they weren't patient with Haskins. That's the real truth in that whole crapshow IMO.

The bottom line is anyone who thinks Case Keenum would be a better option than Dak is out of their mind. Keenum is nothing more than a stopgap/journeyman.

Minny had the #1 over all defense...#1 scoring defense. give me that any day of the week.

keenum is a has been who perhaps never was. a 31 year old below average QB who has been on 6 teams and released every time..

so you want to tell us you know more than 6 FOs and their coaching staff...including John Elway and Mike Zimmer? right?

I posted his stats. Talk about what's there rather then trying to everybody what I'm trying to say. I am saying what I think. What you are doing right now is trying to create a narrative. You gotta work with what you have available in FA and through the draft. I can't pick the QB to bring in because that guy might not be available. I mean, if you have a better option, lets talk about it but here's the thing, don't try and tell me what I'm saying. That's not gonna work. That's only going to start us down the wrong path. I mean, I've been pretty clear on what I think we should do on this thing. But I'm willing to listen and discuss options. Right now, Dak is not one of them because he isn't signed so yeah, that's where I think we are.

Well, if that's your opinion, that's fine. Dak isn't signed so what's your solution?

so we also don't know if Keenum can play in MC's WCO..... there is a big degree of vertical attack in MC's passing attack compared to other WCO offenses... so we haven't seen Keenum play that vertical game.... and in your opinion, he fits the vertical offense. in my opinion, he is more WCOish….

we also know that Keenum was below average in WCO, except the one year in Minn where he had strong supporting cast and played more of a vertical attack and their offense was average at best.

I don't agree that Dak hasn't shown interest in signing, where all the news points to negotiations are ongoing and there is disagreements in length and annual....if you have no interest, you won't engage. its not atypical of any other contract negotiations.....

I rather exhaust all negotiation avenues with Dak, prior to moving on because the secondary QB market will be there and they are all about the same....brady and brees ain't coming here....winston, fitzpatrick, keenum....pick your poison because they will all sink you

That’s the opinion of everyone who knows football. No surprise you have a differing opinion you would rather have Mr gadget man Taysom Hill over Dak. Lol Dak isn’t signed so the only solution is to franchise him until a deal is worked out.

We know he can play in the WCO and that he has a lot of experience in it so that's not a reach. I don't know why he would not be able to pick up McCarthy's version, it's only terminology really. What do you base your statement of "below average" on in the WCO?

If there is something that you've read that suggest Dak is interested in signing, I'm willing to look at it. I've seen nothing of late. Please go ahead, lets post that and talk about it. It would at least be something new to talk about.
