Matthew Stafford is the QB I would go after

I think the whole Dak is this great leader narrative is way overblown. What exactly does Dak do to lead that Stafford doesn't do? And how exactly would you know about Stafford's leadership qualities anyway?

Is Dak being a great leader when he tells a media member to make sure they report that he will be nowhere near Dallas during this offseason? He's basically threatening to withhold his services if he doesn't get what he wants. Was Zeke touted as a leader when he did the same? These actions scream 'me' a hell of a lot more than they scream 'we'. Do leaders scream 'me'?

I'm not saying Dak is a bad person - I don't think he is. I'm saying he is normal. I'm saying fans and some media people screaming the 'Dak is a great leader' narrative is, quite frankly, a bunch of overstated BS.

Did you consider Romo, a leader?

Catch.......you may wanna start paying attention to what teams say sometimes. More times than, their public statements are calculated and well thought out. See below.......(lol)

  • MATTHEW STAFFORDQB, DETROIT LIONS

Lions GM Bob Quinn said that trade rumors surrounding QB Matthew Stafford are "100% false!"
It would cost the Lions $32 million against the cap for Stafford to *not* be on their roster in 2020. He also thrived in his first season under new OC Darrell Bevell before breaking his back. Any rumors suggesting Stafford could be on the move are assuredly false and erroneous.

Statements like this, mean nothing. Stafford could be traded next week, and the GM wouldn't bat a lash.

Good lord.

I wonder how some of you perceive reality.

"Go after".

With what?

And why would the Lions with their coach basically on notice want to trade his QB who gives him his only chance to win?

He has played just as good, or better than Romo did, in his first four years. Give me a better reason, why he doesn't deserve to be paid.
He does deserve to get paid. He doesn't deserve to be paid like the best QB in football.

He never asked to be paid, as the best QB. Uninformed fans, and media is driving that narrative. With the CAP, being what it is; he wants a fair market contract.

He did suffer a back injury but he has fully recovered. Unlike Romo he sat out the rest of the year and there should be no lingering damage. Prior to last years injury he had played in 130 something straight games.
yea, i dig some digging not long ago when his name first came up and honestly, it was one of the few names i went "maybe this could work" over. he always found a way to beat us and he's always been a fighter and damn good qb.

only problem is all i am reading this am in a quick search says the trade rumors are false. if they happen to be true, i'd certainly look into the price tag.

Everything I've read says he wants a contract at or above what Wilson got. He doesn't deserve it, plain and simple.

I think Dak is a good leader but being a good leader doesn't mean you're a great QB.

His leadership ability should be a very tiny factor when evaluating his overall game. It's just some nice insurance for your overall investment.
Well you’ve hated Dak, as well as everything else associated with the Cowboys, since day 1 so who gives a rats *** what you think? Seriously?

You said he was top 5 in "every major category". I showed that you were wrong. Even further, I showed that the two categories that Dak was best in (TD's and yards), Winston was actually better and we all know Winston is a mediocre at best QB. That kind of makes the validity of those particular stats questionable.
Cmon bro.....your attacking “every”?

winston was not better. He had 30 picks. And didn’t you have picks as your major category? Lol

All it will take is one unexpected QB decision and this thing could go nuts. Brees retires. Brady actually leaves NE. Detroit trade Stafford. Next season's QB landscape could be so different from anything imaginable just a few months ago.

Holy crap. I didn't know goalposts could be shifted that quickly.

If you read the post, it was clear that I didn't think Winston was better. I was pointing out an example of a QB with a lot of yards and TD's who wasn't very good.

Dak was 89th in interceptions thrown but that includes a lot of people who only threw a few times. Its kind of an odd stat as a result. I suppose you could go with int%, where Dak was 13th. Does that make you feel better? Does that further your case that Dak was top 5 in every major category?

Statistically, Dak was around 10th. People can slice the apple how they want and move that up or down but he certainly wasn't a top 5 QB last year and he wasn't a bottom half QB either.

Here's what happens:

Tom Brady goes to the Chargers. (preparing for Hollywood + family in SoCal)
Phillip Rivers signs with Tampa Bay. (Bruce Arians?)
Jameis Winston hauls it to Las Vegas. (gambler + Jon Gruden)
Derek Carr lands in Washington. (Jack del Rio and Carr made the playoffs)
Teddy Bridgewater signs with the Patriots. (young/protects the ball/lots of potential)
We still have Dak. (we are what we are)

Tom Brady goes to the Chargers. (preparing for Hollywood + family in SoCal) - Seems like the best fit to me as well. If he leaves NE.
Phillip Rivers signs with Tampa Bay. (Bruce Arians?) - This one seems obvious too. He just moved to FL. Not sure why people think he's going to Indy. Not that he couldn't, but it seems odd for a guy with like 9 kids.
Jameis Winston hauls it to Las Vegas. (gambler + Jon Gruden) - Gruden hates mistakes. Can't see this one. Maybe somewhere like Cincy ... ?
Derek Carr lands in Washington. (Jack del Rio and Carr made the playoffs) - They can't give up on Haskins yet ... right?
Teddy Bridgewater signs with the Patriots. (young/protects the ball/lots of potential) - I think he is a real wildcard.
We still have Dak. (we are what we are)
- Probably but it doesn't feel as if the FO is truly sold on him no matter what they say publicly.

What about Stafford? I think he could throw a huge wrench in this whole puzzle. What if he went to NE?
