The point is we have no confirmation about what Dak’s asking prices have been. For every “report or rumor” about 40 million. Is another report or rumor saying that’s false.

just like this teddy thing. There’s no way to know for sure if a front office would actually be willing to pay him 30. Not until free agency truly begins and we see what happens.

All of these reports are rumors and speculation. That’s the point I’m making. My original post was meant to Call out the accuracy of all the reports we are hearing about players contracts at this time.

Is it?

Seems highly dubious.... just like I say signing Dak doesn’t also sign you the All-Pro lineman and RB needed to prop him up, signing Teddy doesn’t also magically grant you Thomas, Kamara, Warford, Ramczyk and the rest. I would proceed with extreme caution.

Bilgewater is a marketable QB, but realistically, who can win with him as their starting QB except for perhaps Payton, Reid or Belichick? Maybe MM can do it, but I'm not sold on him.

I can see the guy signing on with KC as a backup.

Does not matter if you are elite or 13-16 range, if you are a starting QB getting signed in this market, you’re not signing for 20-25M lol. Letting Dak go and signing Teddy should be a mute idea from now on

“It pays to be a quarterback (obviously). It is the most important position in the game of football so teams aren’t exactly going to risk not having someone who’s capable manning it for them. This is why the Falcons chose to pay Matt Ryan, and it’s potentially the reason why someone could pay it to Bridgewater (in terms of believing he’s capable of doing it himself).

With $30M becoming fairly normal for new quarterback contracts, the price for quarterbacks of significant accomplishments will continue to rise. Dak Prescott has a résumé that puts him in line to be paid in the upper tier. If you thought that Dak was going to sign for $30M per season, even if you thought this a year ago, you’re not going to get that wish.”

I could see the NFL PA & agents behind that tweet. No way Teddy is worth 30. Not even worth 20.
I mean Russell Wilson is a bargain at 35 per year.
The truth of the matter is, the cap is increasing by 10% a year and with the new TV deal around the corner, along with streaming money & NFL Sunday ticket most likely moving off of Direct TV, the money will got crazy

Maybe agents, but not the Player's Association. They want all players to get paid, not just QB's. The more a QB gets, the less the rest of the team gets.

it always was a non option to me.
Yeah..

But what is an issue is who is our #2 QB?

We have no idea about Cooper or White or if McCarthy even knows we have them on the roster.

Personally, I like some competition at QB just to keep the starter from being too comfortable.

It's going to be hard keeping Dak's feet on the ground with his new deal.

You have to wonder if Dak will be hungry once he gets paid?

Most players tend to throttle back a bit.. for example Tank, Jaylon and Zeke. Both had substantially lesser seasons after they got payed

They want to stay injury free to enjoy their new deals.

Hmmmm..

I think at this point it's just wise for teams in general to start doing the thing college does with QBs unless you have an elite QB.

I take it there is the possibility that there will some day be a huge 'OMG! BRIDGEWATER WAS PAID WHAT?' reaction, followed sometime later by a 'OMG! PRESCOTT WAS PAID WHAT?' reaction?

Matt Ryan's contract was considered outrageous. Now, not so much. With the salary cap continuing to rise so quickly the trend to over pay QB's is only going to continue. It doesn't matter if they deserve it or not, that's just the way it is. Flacco started it. Now it's Dak's turn and soon, Mahomes, Watson, Jackson, Allen, Mayfield, Murray and Jones will get theirs. Buy that time Dak's contract will look like a semi-bargain. And as the salary cap increases the percentage of the cap Dak's deal will take up gets smaller and smaller also.

Bridgewater is just a backup in this league and any team would be nuts to sign him to a $20M deal.

says a person whos guessing.. the backups like him ie foles get 22-25 they arent frontline starters and TB is not a proven commodity and he wont get 30 IMO and thats why we are arguing what dak should get,,TB at 28 vs dak at 35 or more? hmmm...interesting..
