Isn't the first time he's mention this. Either he knows something we don't or he's simply trolling big-time. Besides, Quinn is better value for way less money IMO.....

I'd explore it but he's going to get paid and I doubt this team wants two DEs making elite money.

He's better than Quinn (better against the run - granted not great) but............ he gets nicked up a lot and he likely would cost way more.

I think it’s just click bait. I would be happy with either. Do you see who’s under contract for next season on dline. Woof.

Clowney is considered the better overall and complete player. Clowney, age 27, is also 3 years younger than Quinn (who will be age 30) in May.
but he's also been nicked and dinged and has some wear- tear toll on his body already. But no doubt, he is clearly looking for his own big money long term contract
with a pending NFL team. And like Quinn, i'm guessing it's very likely to be with a 4-3 scheme team.
While he's still making name recognition pro bowl invites, I don't think Clowney is at the level of the No.1 overall pick as when he was coming out of college.

Quinn, imo.. is the better pure edge pass rusher of the two, and at one point, before his back injuries took a toll, he collected an amazing 19 sacks in a single season with the Rams.
but he remains an average run defender.

If we re-signed Quinn, it's gonna be in that 11-12 million range (at the least) as he's trying to collect that last big NFL contract of his remaining career.
Both players may need share their snaps with a capable sub to lessen the wear n toll and extend their durability and careers.

Yea its rumors going out about this not just coming from fish. Plus Quinn is just a pass rusher and not good at run stopping. Clowney has played end, tackle and olb so I'd at least see his value out there

Two things seem to follow Clowney, injuries, and inconsistency, otherwise, he would already have his big-money long-term deal. He's working on his third team but looking for top tier money. I don't see it happening......

Smells like clickbait. (Fisher not OP)

If someone would click on the article and read it, it is not one of his normal click on it and pay to subscribe links. It actually lets you read the article and has a video on it.

With that said, he is talking about some other people making that claim that Cowboys could be interested in JC...however he says the following....

But we're not sure who actually views Clowney as a "franchise player'' - except, that is, for Clowney himself. In reality, doesn't he fall closer to the "needs-a-reboot'' category?

ut "pay him like a franchise player''? And acquiesce to his plan (per a note from Matt Miller of Bleacher Report) that he's "looking to reset the market''?

A “market-setting contract” means in excess of Aaron Donald's $22.5 mil per year, in excess of Khalil Mack's $23.5 mil, in excess of Lawrence's $21 mil. "It only takes one team,'' as the saying goes, to vault Clowney’s contract into that stratosphere. But there isn't any evidence that Dallas judges him to be "great.'' More likely? The Cowboys think he's a good player who needs to "reboot his career'' rather than as a great player who gets to "re-set the market.''

So as much as "Fish" annoys me with his attitude, click on the link to try and get you to pay for his write ups and his pollyanna jerry butt kissing....in this case he seems to be indicating that the only way the cowboys would be interested in JC is if he is willing to sign a decent deal and at this point he thinks he is not.

Clowney will probably get D Law money. I wouldn't mind investing in another premium pass rusher and building the secondary via the draft, but Clowney ain't my guy.

I want to like him because he went to college an hour and a half from my house, but he has vastly under performed in his career.

quinn is not likely to be cheap this year following last year's success. would love to have clowney but he's a mercenary. he won't be cheap.
