Mid round would love to get Devin DuVernay , 4.38 speed and runs like a RB when he gets the ball in his hands.

I’m not as high on him as others are.

He looks very stiff-hipped and every bit of a RB playing WR. The passing offense at Texas is very simplistic in terms of route concepts. I have a hard time seeing him run the route tree effectively and have the quick feet to beat guys with technique at the pro level; you aren’t always going to be given a free release like these guys see in college. As such, I think he projects as #4-5 guy on most teams depth charts.

He’s an intriguing prospect but there are other guys I like a bit more.

I like him out of the slot and has deep speed to boot. Has shown very good hands.

those are the guys.
maybe ohio st wr kj hill slips to the 3rd.
notre dame's claypool could slip to the 3rd.
texas wrs duvernay and johnson would be on my radar.

im a big fan of smu's james proche...always seems to get open...tough for his size...blessed with a great pair of hands.

baylor's denzel mims is special.
love his size...and also has a great pair of hands.

Claypool apparently went through a vigorous offseason workout program and weighed in a 238 pounds. Some think he'll end up a flex TE type.

What about Duverneay from Texas? Didn’t see much of the others but saw a lot of him. He’s going to have success in the NFL.
Absolutely yes.
I watched his entire college career at Texas
I want him on this team

Didn't realize he's that quick. I was thinking he was a 4.48 guy so I have to take a close look and watch the combine.

I’ve read he’s more fast than quick as well so am wondering how that will translate for a shorter guy?

Cobb is 5'10" and DuVernay 5'11" both with good speed (DuVernay a bit faster) both physical runners with the ball. In my view DuVernay as a mid rd that 3 to 5th rd selection is about where he should go in the draft.

Mims, Edwards, Hill, Hamler, Pittman, Tyler Johnson.Van Jefferson, Peoples-Jones, Gabriel Davis, and Jauan Jennings.

I would look at all these guys as 15 million dollar savings or even multiple.

Jeff Thomas as a late round guy
As in replacements for Amari?

Can't be serious.

Yea I don't like Duvernay at all, for these reasons.

He's not really going to be a slot guy, b/c he can't get open quickly, and even though he's fast at the top end, I don't think he has the burst to beat outside CBs quickly enough to be effective there either.

As in, you draft a wr and invest that 15-19 or whatever million in your team.

That may not get you 1000+ yards, but might get you 700+ yards, some sacks, tackles, interceptions, special teams contributions.

Everyone is looking at it for a player for player type move when it is a player for players type of move.

This is a horrible strategy. Basically you're trading Amari Cooper for a 4th-round WR and Robert Quinn.

So 15-20 million only gets you a 4th rd pick and Quinn is what you’re saying?
That's the trade you're making.

Amari Cooper for the 4th-rd WR and the cap space to sign Robert Quinn. Pick a different player if you want, but it's just one player. There's no such thing as making your team better with 5 players who all make $3m.

15-19 million could be 4 players at 6 million each once you favor their contracts first year is usually lower with a signing bonus.

Players who make $6m aren't difference makers. They're the same quality as what we already have.

Here's a bunch of players who made ~$6mm, by AAV, this year:
Corner: Robey-Coleman, Skrine, Brandon Carr, Daryl Roberts, Jonathan Joseph, DJ Hayden, Ronald Darby
DTs: Dean Lowry, Star Lotulelei, Denico Autry, William Gholston, Malcolm Brown
WRs: Robert Woods, Mohamed Sanu, Marquise Goodwin, Willie Snead, Randall Cobb, Cordarrelle Patterson
S: Bobby McCain, Jaquiski Tartt, Richardo Allen, Quandre Diggs, Micah Hyde, Kenny Vaccaro

Where are the upgrades in this list? The things that all of these guys have in common is that, at best, they're JAGs.

You want to replace Amari with Robert Woods, Buster Skrine, and Star Lotulelei, go right ahead. But just know that you've made your team significantly worse.
