Signing dak is going from problematical to impossible. Not looking good. It's a shame we're so unprepared to deal with the matter. QB in free agency looms as a distinct possibility.

I wouldn't say they are unprepared as much as Dak under preformed in big games and against better competition. He finished 8-8 and didn't win a terrible division losing to the beat up Eagles.

But yet Dak wants to be highest pay QB in NFL. No Superbowl wins, no Superbowl appearance, no NFC championship appearance. Yet pay him as much as Wilson. I just think S. Jones is having a hard time giving someone all that money when really they haven't proved it yet.

I personally wish they would just pay him so we can move on. Really tired of it. Just offer him Wilson money or a little above. If he says no leak the story.

That is a good question, I don't know. Cowboys could backload the contract making it very cap friendly in the 1st year same with Cooper. I just know it is not as simple as some are making it out to be, a lot goes into the deals from the team side and players side. I honestly believe a deal will get done and before the franchise deal line happens. I don't think Dallas really wants to tag him unless they have no other option and I know Dak does not want it because it gives the player no security which is why everyone who gets tagged is upset when it happens.

Good grief. Jerry’s incompetence knows no bounds.

How can the GM not be talking to his most important player who is no longer under contract?

I hope Dak holds out. He has done his part. It’s now up to the team to step up and pay the man or face the consequences.

Maybe to them he isn’t the most important player?

this is not how it went down, both sides are stuck on the length of the deal and are not budging.Jerry has already bitten once by giving a QB a short deal,he doesnt want to do this all over again in 4 years when it likely will cost 50-60 million.

Good.

Sign Byron.

Let Cooper walk.

Franchise Dak.

Get a veteran in here like Andy Dalton.

If he holds out, the Cowboys won't feel it, and he'll have to sign for less here or elsewhere.

No team wants to pay Dak big money.

If we tag him we will find out. His agent will shop around. If they want him we will get first round picks.

I think they would just play in Dallas under the tag because I doubt anyone gives up even one 1st round pick for Dak.

We have no viable backup and no guarantee any free agent QB won't take another offer. Ergo, unprepared. There are tag options.

Wouldn’t we get 2 first rounders.

I’m guessing they can negotiate a deal with a team wanting to sign.

If Dallas could get a 1st for Dak they should take it and go all in on Brady or Tua if his medical checks out.

That is the way to play this. If his agent can't land Dallas first-round picks for a quarterback, then that quarterback isn't worth anywhere near what he's asking.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys want to sign him long term, and he wants a short term deal because he wants to do this again in 3-4 years.

Jerry is smittened.

Would like to know what the offer and counter was. I think all negotiations should be televised or recorded to be played back for fans.. lol

That’s not how Dallas does business..

They will drag their feet on this thing, compete against themselves in the bidding, and Dak will eventually get his way.

Then they will say stupid things about how this contract doesn’t hurt our ability to team build going forward.

It sounds like it’s more of a year issue then a money issue. Dak wants a short term contract.

Dak wouldn't get 1/10th of the endorsement deals he gets if he wasn't the Cowboys QB.

I don't know what he is demanding, but if it is north of $35 million, he can piss off.

Broaddus said just yesterday that the Cowboys aren't talking to either Dak or Amari until the CBA situation is settled. He was pretty incredulous.
