I don't think so. Keeping Olumba (a Kris Richard project) was redundant after bringing in Canady and re-signing Brown. And Wise was probably a Marinelli guy that didn't fit what new DL coach Jim Tomsula wants to do (I admit I am speculating here).

Not really. Olumba was released and put on the practice squad. Ward was traded because teams would have lined up to claim him on waivers.

The stupid thing was trading him for a bag of peanuts.

These cuts really surprise me. They need bodies at this point and these two guys play positions of need. Olumba actually saw the field late last season yet he’s not even worthy to bring to camp? Wise played fairly well in preseason and I pegged him as someone to watch this year if he made any improvements. I suppose these things happen when new coaching staffs come in but most likely to me is that the team saw them both all year and that was enough to know they aren’t worth investing anymore time in.
