I agree. Jason was a big fault here as was Maranelli and Richard. No doubt about it. Still I think a GM sees interior defense as a issue and they at least address it with better than bargain basement guys. They got too cute with Covington and Hyder.

Yeah... Dallas seems to want to make things more difficult then they have to be by getting "cute" all the time. lol....

I do like how Jerry gives people a second chance...

That game was more about us getting completely out schemed then anything else.

Yep terrible game plan and scheme. The backfield motion completely had them unprepared and players looked lost. I would bet Garrett and Marinelli didn't practice the motion all week and said we're just going to play our game. What's crazy is had they got a stop in the final two minutes they had a chance to tie.

Now this thread has nothing to do with hyping up the Rams.......

Its more sad that these guys ran over us and a year later one is out of the league and the other is hobbled and just got cut by the Rams.

And how did they fix this last offseason? They didn't. Damn near brought the same exact front 7 back with the addition of Quinn who doesn't help with the run at all.

Just want to say thank goodness we finally are attempting to address this. Now go get us a edge rusher and a linebacker in the draft and I'll be satisfied with that unit.

Three weeks later the Patriots held them to 3 points.

This game has been talked about many times on this forum.

-Woods suffered a torn labrum early in the game, but they were gashing us on the ground even before he got hurt.

-A Rams O-linemen flat out said that they could tell which way the Dallas D-Line was stunting just based off looking at their alignment through film study. That’s not a rumor, it literally came from his mouth. Awesome self scouting there.

-The D-line was getting gashed, but LVE and Jaylon took atrocious angles all game, which lead to big chunks.

-We stayed in nickel defense with two lb’s and four DL against their base formation where they continued to run down our throats. Pretty sure NE countered this by running more 3 LB sets versus the Rams base O. That’s coaching for ya.

The only possession our defense made a stop in came at a very good time. We could've tied the game after that stop, and couldn't get that one yard. Elliott and playcalling were the 2 reasons why we missed on such a golden opportunity to tie the game.

damn near is a stretch lol they added Quinn, Bennett, and drafted Hill I realize we know Hill wasn't a contributor but they did try AND some other DE they used as depth..chat happens brah we returned the favor to their vaunted DL and Pollard and Zeke at for 3hours..

did any other team after that rams game put up 238 and 2 backs just leveled us all game?

Not saying we were great in that area but there are games like this for every team that are simply outliers, they weren't the norm..

I don't feel its a isolated issue. Aaron Jones lit us up for 4 touchdowns.

I suggest you look at that video again. They didnt run over anybody. What they did was allowed the DTs to over rush be patient and run behind them. Simple move that Richard and Marinelli didnt adjust to because of pure stubborness?

I don't feel its a isolated issue. Aaron Jones lit us up for 4 touchdowns.
picked one game from 2018 playoff run and one from a RS game in 2019 to say we were horrible at stopping the run..

sure we had issues but again you said we came in with the same players at DL and that was not true they tried to upgrade but it failed but we also had injuries in LB and DL that creates issues..

we werent Stallworth's against the run for sure but we are talking a few really bad games but where did we rank for all 16?

and too boot you are arguing an old staff and now a new one is here with some new players and the draft to go,,

would you like more cheese with that WHINE..

2019 top 10 D 9th against the pass 8th against the run 26th in TO

https://pickingpros.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys-stats.php

2018-13th ranked d 13th against the pass 5th against the run 16th in TOs

https://pickingpros.com/nfl/2018/dallas-cowboys-stats.php

funny if you nit pick games call a defense terrible but truly you can do that to any team..overall we had weaknesses a few bad games here and there where we got ran over or passed on but really its been the TO we arent forcing and long drives we give up that made it worse..

it was sad that we were top 10 in d and top 5 in offense but not getting tos and not scoring enough consistently cost us games. =8-8

were went as good in 2018 ranking vs 2019 yet made it tot hw 2nd round of the playoffs..=10-6
