Now that we know Winston was willing to accept a backup role (as long as it’s with a good team or passing attack where he thinks he’ll get a nice showcase if the starter gets hurt), it makes sense Winston’s people would’ve come sniffing around us.

And that’s on top of the usual reasons agents try to link their player to us, because we’re a very visible team who is easy to use to create leverage or to create the illusion of teams being interested. Pretending Jerry Jones is on the other line during negotiations probably squeezes an extra couple hundred thousand out of teams if they really like the player and buy the premise that Jerry might like them too.

This is interesting. Report is that he is signing with the Saints but not until Monday afternoon so that he doesn't affect Saints comp picks. However, as we know, nothing is final until the ink is dry. I wonder if the news of him signing with the Saints has caused other teams, including Cowboys, to reach out.

Many may have felt Winston wanted to start- but if he's going to be a back up, then it may draw interest from more than the Saints.

It was already assumed it was on a low guarantee in New Orleans. The Saints have under 3 million in cap space- though may have created some with the Taysom Hill deal they signed today.

Would be interesting and nice if Dallas steals him away.

I will still assume he's going to New Orleans, but the timing of that report seems to be later than the report to the Saints.... hmm.

At $3.5M for one year, every team is interested. Including the Eagles and Packers.
I personally hope he signs with the Eagles just to see their fan base go bonkers.

Why on God's earth would Winston even consider for signing such low money at this stage of the season is beyond me. Just wait until some QB gets hurt and he can easily get triple.

Saints just paid Hill something like $20M for two years with $16M guaranteed. I don't know why he would want to go there or why the Saints would want him. MAkes no sense.

At the right price, Dallas may have been interested but JW wasn't having that. So there you go. It's worked out for everyone. The Cowboys have their new back up QB in DiNucci.

It’s not like Winston had the option to hold out for a starting job
Barring injury, his starting days are likely over

Makes sense to me. He can beat out Taysom Hill. Just like Bridgewater did. Winston is young enough to go to a team and revive his career or at least have a chance to.

We should have been interested in this. There's currently a thread on here laughing at the Eagles for trying to have QB depth while we are married to mediocrity for years. Which is the real joke?

Don't like Cam Newton but would rather have him as a backup than Winston. Cam could play smart within the system.I don't think Winston can play smart at all!

Hurts was drafted for Eagles QB Depth? Perhaps that is the real joke.
