Correct. They have used analytics in the draft for a few years now. Which is why I never understood why they were so anit on using them on the field and in game situations like win probability. If you are going to use them to tell you what player you should draft, use them on the field to give you the best chance to put that player in position to win.

If Cooper is under-performing his contract cutting him is easy and if he's not it might be that a team offers a trade for Cooper. Clearing 20m from the salary cap, and adding Gallup long-term with a rookie slot WR could easily be the right call.

Amari Cooper is only 25. He’s not gonna be 29 in 2 years

Cooper is not going anywhere. If he stays healthy, he will play out every year of his contract. Gallup is pretty good, and Lamb has the potential to be good. Gallup and lamb with Cooper will be great.

Cooper is our guy.

No one is trying to get Cooper out of town,bBut this is a business. After this year Gallup will be able to negotiate a new deal and they will have to make a decision on him. If the decided to wait to do him after 2021 then they will have Gallup to take care of and Copper having a 22m cap hit. Before the Covid that 22m cap hit wouldnt be a issue with how the cap was expected to rise, but it COULD be a issue. Even its not, you have 22m cap hit and a decision on Gallup to make and letting Cooper walk would save 16m in cap space. All Lamb does, or could do if he works out like we think and hope, is to make that decision on Gallup and Cooper easier. He might not replace Cooper, he might be the reason Gallup walks. Who knows, but the article and others arent predicting it, they are just laying possible scenarios.

You guys are crazy. Cooper is not going anywhere. His first year with Dak was really good. The offense took off as soon as he got here. It will only get better.

The dude signs a 100 million dollar deal, and hasn't even played on it, and people are talking about getting rid of him. Doesn't make sense.

Coop, Gallup, Lamb, Jarwin. It is going to be good.

Rod Marinelli was also known to have had a lot to do with the drafting of Taco Charlton and Tristen Hill.

In the past, we paid far too much attention to the ones who pounded the table and shouted the loudest.

I heard for the last few years we have a good analytics. But I believe it was a Garrett interview that said yes they have an analytics team but they don't actually make decisions based on them lol.

I have no problem with Garrett and Rod being gone, but this team is stacked. This is not a new hire rebuild situation. The cowboys have been drafting well for quite awhile. Hats off to everyone

Hes 26 in June...so 28. The point being theyll have options in 2-4 years.

The Cowboys like the Seahawks use SPARQ analysis in rating players. I believe the 49ers and a few other teams now also have adopted it.

We know this. Though Amari is 25 and will be 26 when the season starts.....he would be 28 in two years.....

All this is understood. What we are saying is none of this mattered or was even brought up until we got Lamb. Now we hear it nonstop.

There is more to this great drafting class by the Cowboys than the scouting department doing their homework. The other 31 teams allowed it to happen. I'm not taking anything away from the great job the scouts did here. I honestly think the scouting department always does this superior job for the Cowboys but it does not always pan out once that information gets into the hands of our coaches and executives. So why was that not the case this year?

First, the coaching staff was more receptive to the information the scouts were giving them. Give credit to Mike McCarthy for that.

Second, the information the scouts were gathering was kept close to the vest, meaning they kept that information hidden from other teams.

When scouts from other teams get together as they do at the "scouting combine" in Indianapolis, they like to talk. They tend to like to show off how much they know so the other scouting teams get intimidated into believing that those guys know more. It's a constant task of gathering information.

Mike and Will approached the "scouting combine" with a different plan this year. Their team kept to themselves and rarely ever talked to scouts from other teams. No one was able to get a glance at what the Cowboys scouting department was up to. This translated on draft day to other teams not being able to predict who the Cowboys were going to pick.

In all the mock drafts the other teams did, they always assumed the Cowboys would go defense in the first round. The Cowboys did this as well. These assumptions by other teams allowed a player like CeeDee Lamp to drop to 17 where he was not expected to be picked. But this year the Cowboys were resolute to remain true to the scouting department's hard work that put the Cowboys drafting board together.

They had a script to focus on defense but they weren't so blinded by that need that they could not see the bigger picture. This allowed them to be flexible enough to go off script when a player of higher value was falling to them. It's as if they had decoded the matrix and were making all the right moves with ease.

Wow, the Cowboys get extremely strong in one squad and some fans immediately want to dillute it.

Get rid of Cooper after 2021 or trade him in 2020? Then there are some who want to trade Pollard. Some think we can afford to trade lineman on either side.....

It's like there is this idea that things are going to be so different, no injuries this season.

There could possibly be more injuries this season, current circumstances suggest less conditioning, less minicamp practice, and less familiarity and cohesion among teammates.

Stephen Jones said as much on 105.3 after the pick of Ceedee Lamb. Makes me feel bad as the guy is playing his way out of the team. A great pick whom we will not be able to afford when his contract comes due.
