Who knows what this will translate to in terms of wins. Could be the same song and dance seeing as winning in this league is hard.

But we finally have an offseason where we have a breath of fresh air. No more Garrett. Marinelli is gone. They cut dead weight in Heath and Witten. We finally went and got us a good backup QB. Something we had not had since 2013. We had the best draft we have had in so long. From top to bottom. Not just a pick or 2 and then junk.

I am excited for this upcoming training camp and season. I am excited to someone fresh and new on the sidelines.

I know some wanted more defense in this draft, especially pick 1 but Dallas knows they will live and die by the offense so might as well go all in and get Dak all the weapons he can use. People will point to Dak's numbers last year and us being #1 in offense but anyone who watched the games knows those numbers did not tell the story.

I think this team will rally well behind McCarthy. And we just saw how inept their front office has been with getting Rodgers help and it was not his doing.

Look at it the other way - we had a few guaranteed losses under the old regime. So even if they’re average, that’s good for a few more wins this season.

I feel very good about this team.

Expect a more innovative offense - McCarthy is a great offensive mind and he had that year away from the game to rethink his ways and inject some new ideas. Count me among the group that believes that Garrett put the handcuffs on Moore after the team opened 3-0 - the play calling changed dramatically. You have the best wide receiver trio in the league - watching Lamb on tape make those circus catches and avoid 5 defenders, it can’t help get you excited, especially knowing that he’ll be one-on-one with Cooper out wide and Zeke in the backfield.

The move today to add a backup quarterback shores up pretty much the only weakness on offense, unless you want to count the tight end spot. But clearly the Cowboys will be operating out of a 3WR offense most of the time, so one TE should be plenty (McCarthy doesn’t use his TEs all that much anyway).

On defense, you have the best depth we’ve had in a decade on the defensive line, and finally we’ve got some big run stuffing defensive tackles who can occupy the line and let our stud linebackers roam free and do their thing. Diggs will immediately start at corner. I guess safety is a weakness, but if that’s your biggest concern, you’re in good shape.

Let’s not forget special teams. Fassel might be the league’s best special teams coach. You go out and sign Greg the Leg at kicker.

Yeah @Blackspider214 - you’ve got reason to be optimistic.

LOL, I wouldn't refer to McCarthy and Nolan as "new life".

The coaching staff of the Dallas Cowboys just aged by about a combined century.

But it's all good.

Now we need new life in the fan base and I’m not talking about you.

The signing of Dalton was icing on the cake for how the organization has handled the team this year. I was excited when MM was hired and they've kept that momentum through the draft and signing Dalton. If the other FA signings pan out (I still have my concerns) there's no reason why we can't be a juggernaut.

RE is still a big problem. You don’t need a pro bowler but league average would help

I’ll shelve the optimism for now . Cowboys have had 17 months to sign Dak and it hasn’t happened so no guarantee right now about anything . If Dalton is the starter it’s another lost season. Dak has his faults but he’s light years better than Dalton and at a minimum Dak gives us a puncher’s chance at a championship . Dalton would just be another year guaranteed closer to the grave without a super bowl . Waste of time.

Again, watch what they do and not what they say. He’s not signed for a reason. I suspect their plan is to play him this year on the franchise tag and see who is available next year. They could franchise him again next year too.

It takes two to tango. You just can’t set a precedent of signing a quarterback to a 3-year deal, which supposedly (none of us know) is the showstopper here. I suspect that Dak doesn’t want a deal, not until Mahomes signs.

Hopefully Dak won’t be foolish enough to skip camp. You can’t do a new deal after July 15 - he’s only be hurting himself by keeping himself out and losing valuable time with the new coaches and his new offensive weapon.

Better to be silent and to let people guess if you are stupid with a low football IQ rather than post dribble like this and confirm it.

I’m excited again finally as MM is proven and will undoubtedly get more out of this team which is the main thing it’s been lacking for 9 years... excited to see how far we can get with a real staff

It’s amazing. Everything you post I almost entirely always disagree with. Kudos.

This is the first time in a decade since I’ve looked forward to the Cowboys season with excitement.

Mike Nolan is 10 years younger than Marinelli.

Mike McCarthy is 2 years older than Garrett.

The Cowboys got younger by 8 years at those two positions combined...

Easily this team could swing 3+ games in the positive territory. Good off season, hasn't felt that way in a while. Guess last off season wasn't too bad with Cobb and Quinn but they finally addressed the middle of the defense with legit starters.
