It has taken me a long time to come to terms with this board. Maybe all message boards. I don't believe many times does one poster ever change the mind of another poster. Even with burning bush proof mushed in the doubters face. So I am not here to praise Dak, or convince you of something you currently do not believe.

My position. I believe, with the team's Dak has played for since coming to the Cowboys, - questionable receivers, lack of defense, false accusations about a significant piece and ultimate suspension....ect. - to me...............TO ME............... I have seen progress by Dak and believe he has superior leadership qualities, and enough talent to lead this team to the promised land. Provided he has a real team and not all of the pressure is on him alone.

However, that could change if he had all the skill players and a defense and failed. So I am riding the fence with a positive attitude, but a show me inner voice.

Having said that I would like to ask the doubters a few questions. Keep in mind there is no trick about these questions. Your opinion is yours and counts no more or less than anyone else here.

QUESTIONS

Were Dak to play under the tag this season, and after all is said and done the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl. Dak plays within himself, but it is a true team win, and not some Elway 97 yard drive to a walk off victory.

Dak will still need a new contract, or tagged, or walk.

If Dallas, at that time, considering the results, offered Dak a contract which compensation was an average of 40 million a year, or at least above 38 million would you:

Still be a doubter?
Still be disappointed he wants that salary?
Opposed to reupping him with a new contract?
In favor of forcing him to play under a tag the coming season?
Just as soon let him walk since his heroics was not enough to say he is the real deal?

I don't need the why because I'm pretty certain I have read all your thoughts on him. But if you feel you need to elaborate, then tee it up.

Maybe we can have a discussion without the acrimony concerning Dak.

Make no mistake.

Most of his “doubters” are locked into their positions. Dak could be MVP and win the Super Bowl and it still wouldn’t be enough.

They’ll still say he’s “average” (no matter what the numbers say) and any QB could’ve done that with this supporting cast. That I can promise you.

They’re losers. Dak’s a winner. Losers usually resent winners, especially anonymously on the internet.

100% true. I don't think people can be happy for their team unless their guy/s are winning. Just winning no longer matters, it's who you win with and how you win.

I think Dak is a fine man. Obviously a high quality character guy, and actually a darn good football player, but you know when it counted he seemed to seriously fall apart. He is still young, and plenty of time left, and now a new coach and a new system. I would love to keep Dak Prescott as our quarterback but I am not conviced that he would be worth more than 30 Million at this time. That said, he could be and he has the time to prove that, and he has given a lot to this team already through his play, and his leadership ability. It's up to people that have vastly superior football knowledge than myself to make these decisions I will support the team the same if he is or is not the quarterback. I know one thing though -- I am excited to see how he would fit in the WCO under McCarthy's system. I hope he comes to camp early and gets the offense down pat. Same for Andy Dalton I hope he comes in and learns the system and provides a ready-set-go backup solution.

Just like Dak, Dalton, his rookie season was Pro Bowl and took his team to the playoffs. They are very similar as to size, arm strength, and abilities.

A what if question for the Dak doubters, really? What if Dallas goes 5-11 in the regular season?

What if questions are not good at erasing doubt. Just saying.

They are both very talented QB's for sure. All it would take for us to get to the superbowl is a good system and players that buy into the system and play lights out for the team. Dak is a very nice out of the pocket QB but he also get's rush-scared and happy feet and when he gets happy feet he craters and gets sacked. That can be fixed with good coaching. Andy has a slighly better arm when he is in the pocket. Dak is a better ad-lib passer, but it's super nice to have both on the team and If Dak is as good a leader as I think he is he will accept Andy and they will gel well together. As long as Dak is paid, and I think he will be something around 33-34 million. I think the deal gets done by this coming weekend.

Dak has already more than proven himself. 2 years ago in 2018, the anti-Dakers were blasting Dak after his struggles without a #1 WR and a rookie #2 WR halfway through the season. The trade for Amari Cooper was made, and that helped Dak light it up the 2nd half of the season, led the team to a division title and the playoffs, plus Dak outplayed Russell Wilson and literally led the team to a home playoff win against the playoff experienced Seahawks. THAT definitely was enough to warrant Dak deserving of a big new contract, but Jerry reneged and gave fuel to the anti-Dakers to demand Dak prove himself 1 more season.

Well, Dak rightfully took it personal and bet on himself and played 2019 on his last year of his rookie contract for dirt cheap, tearing it up statistically and almost passing for 5K yards, all while his WRs led the league in drops (51), Zeke and the Oline not showing up in the run game 3 - 4 times, having a kicker who led the league in missed mid-range FGs that definitely cost us 2-3 games, having a Defense that led the league in missed tackles while constantly giving up yards/field position and easy points, all while having one of the worst special teams around the league while the team was led by a group of coaches who 90% are no longer here.

Yet, here we are once again for a 3rd time with them anti-Dakers demanding Dak prove himself once again. What a bunch of baloney. These folks are simply a bunch of haters who simply have never liked or appreciated Dak, and they are hell bent on complaining every day, 24/7 in hopes of the Cowboys organization hearing their incessant unappreciative cries in order to appease their wrongful bleeding hearts. They simply don't want Dak to remain a Cowboy, and they could care less if it costs the Cowboys seasons to come.

If those are your true feelings, then go ahead and tell us how many were really on the grassy knoll...

I was a Romo guy. Had hoped he would take over when he recovered.
Was shocked when he abdicated his throne. I was bummed.
But that was not Dak's fault. When Romo moved on, I became a Dak guy. He is and I hope will be, our starting QB for the next 4 years at least.
I am giddy over the draft and new coach, combined with the FA bought in so far. (And I think bringing Dalton on board is a smart move). And the promise of a bounty in next years draft - I feel, this is the start of a Dallas return to greatness.
I am firmly in Dak's corner.

Do explain if you dare...
Dak has that IT factor. He's a pitbull when on the field. Never quits or complains, especially when being down during a game. You can tell he hates to lose. He's a fighter, plus the limelight is not too big for him. He's gotten better every year and very likely will keep improving his game, especially under this new set of successfully experienced coaches.

I think with MM coaching we could win a SB this season with Dak...if things fall into place and we get some good luck on injuries (and suspensions)...
If that happened I think Jerry pays up 40 before they make it back from the game and I’d be fine with it
