1.Cliff Harris
Initially yes, an expansion team as he begun sharing starting time in 1962 with LeBaron and why he was so beat up and big part of why retired early. His last 2 years had a pretty good team in our first NFL title games. It was more than 4. When Meredith first started, he was splitting time w/ LeBaron.
For his first 6 years, he had a crapp team around him.
Did you also ignore that besides Roger and Troy only other QB in Ring of Honor.I dunno much about that time. I just saw he started 4 4 years. Mustve been why because he was splitting time
Agreed.Spot on. Here's my TE's.
Witten
Novacek
Dupree
Cosbie
Ditka
Barry Switzer created the wishbone???? I have no idea where you came up with that. The wishbone is a variation of the old "T" formation. It was brought to the major college level by Emory Bellard when he became offensive coordinator for the University of Texas. After Texas won 30 games in a row with the wishbone, Oklahoma adopted it.
Barry Switzer was a good recruiter, but not a good coach. Moose Johnston said it best about Switzer as the head coach, "We won that last Superbowl despite the coaching, not because of it."
Not even close. If you don't care, then why are you evaluating?I don't really care.
But think all three are kind of in the same pack.

It's an opinion. Not even close. If you don't care, then why are you evaluating?
Meredith is in the same pack as Aikman/Staubach. White and Romo are not even in the same conversation as Meredith.
I'd say that you're most likely in the minority on this one. Obvious recency bias. It's an opinion.
I value mine a lot, so there's that.
But no, I really don't care how you rate them.
Obviously, you like Merideth more than both White and Romo.
I'm guessing you are in the minority here on that one, and that shouldn't bother you either.
Your opinion
Imo, Dandy Don was very good. Nice arm but very inaccurate. Lots of picks and an absurdly low completion rate. I mean, we are talking in the 40s much of the time. Wildly erratic.
But hard not to love the guy anyway.
Lot of thought and time went into that but I would have some differences there. It's a month earlier than i usually post this year but it's usual post draft and pre-camp time - which means its usually the most boring stretch waiting for NFL football,
..so here's my yearly Top 5 All Time Cowboys List - per position.

Dak is NOT better than Danny White
Imagine comparing TDs and INTs to players from different erasYes, he is.
Danny White threw for 155 TDs and 132 Ints in his career. He had years where he threw 25 interceptions and 23 interceptions. The year (1980) he threw 25 interceptions he was on a team that was loaded and coached by Tom Landry. Danny White gets the benefit and credit for making those NFC Championship games but people forget the excellent coaching and players surrounding him. Dak has been stuck with Garrett. In the 8 years that Danny White started he averaged 19 TDs and 15 Ints a year. In the playoffs he had 15 TD passes and 16 INTs. He had 4 games in the playoffs where he had 3 or more interceptions.
Meanwhile, Dak has 97 TDs and 36 INTs for his career. He averages 26 TDs and 9 ints a year. Give him a coach like Landry and players around him that were used to winning and had a winning culture then you may even get better results than that. That doesn't even factor in the rushing TD comparison.
Danny White was a better punter. I will give him that.

You have to compare QBs stats against their era..
Danny White had multiple top 5 passing seasons, Dak has 1

Nah, he didn't. Oklahoma, where he was assistant-coaching in 1968 did not run the wishbone. The University of Texas did. I applaud him for recruiting black athletes in a time when few coaches would, and acknowledge that he was a very successful coach, but he did not create the wishbone. There is a book called "Bootleggers Boy". And yah, he created the wishbone AND was the first coach to start really incorporating blacks onto his college football team. Good read.
Nice post, Cooter...and Barry had a winning record both in college and in the NFL...Nah, he didn't. Oklahoma, where he was assistant-coaching in 1968 did not run the wishbone. Oh, "Bootleggers Boy" was written by Barry Switzer. I haven't read it, so I don't know what he claimed, but the history of the wishbone offense is easy to find on the internet, and it did not begin with Barry Switzer.
Just a dead one by the road. The ranch covers 27 sections and, so far, we are hog-free.Nice post, Cooter...and Barry had a winning record both in college and in the NFL...
Seen any hogs lately?
I don't agree with your ranking of QBs. But I agree that Meredith deserves a spot or consideration. Meredith was winner and got the Cowboys to championship games. I do not get why someone would rank Romo in the top 5 with only 1 playoff win and losing 5 NFC East/Playoff game clinging games, and 3 playoff loses. I would replace Dak on my list with Meredith but not allowed to edit. Romo is not in my top 7. Because that would included Craig Morton before Romo.Lot of thought and time went into that but I would have some differences there.
QB: Staubach, Meredith, Aikman, White, Romo. Meredith, none of those other QB's dealt with building an expansion team back when that was the most difficult challenge in all sports. He lifted the talent better than any Cowboys QB I ever watched.
RB: Dorsett, Smith, Walker, Hill, Elliott.
WR: Alworth, Hayes, Irvin, Owens, Pearson. Not considering just his time with the Cowboys but his career.
TE: Ditka, Novacek, Witten, Dupree, Cosbie. Same as Alworth.
DT: Ratliff wouldn't make the list.
HC: I would take Garrett off, bump Switzer and put Gailey at 5.
Don's twin brother. I'll bet you didn't know that Don kind of cheated a little and when he didn't feel like getting up early on Sundays, his brother Bill would take his place.Who is Bill Perkins ?
