Walker only had one 1k yd season with Dallas. Totally agree that he was not as good as Zeke. He was likely a better college RB, but he wasn't a better NFL RB.

Tony Dorsett was still on the team Walker's first 2 years and there was a lockout season in Walker's 2nd year with Dallas. Only 2 players had 1000 yards rushing that year and Walker led the league in yards from scrimmage that season.

I don't think Walker was a better NFL back than Elliott. I do think Walker was better than an average NFL back while in Dallas. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good team and he missed some crucial time in his career while playing in the USFL. Despite all that Walker produced a pretty good NFL career.

Since you want to use that go look at who Dak is ahead of, are you ready to be wrong on Dak or this list?
I think Dak will eventually be the Cowboys all-time passing leader due to his durability and the era he plays in.
But he's only 4 years in right now.
I don't yet have him in my top 5. Not yet.

For me, it's

1) Staubach
gap
2) Aikman
3-4) White and Romo (pick your order)
5) Merideth
6-7) Morton and Prescott (pick your order)

Garrett is the worst HC this team has ever had. And honestly it isn't even close.

Switzer was a coaching legend in college, created the wishbone and then won in the pros.

Barry Switzer created the wishbone???? I have no idea where you came up with that. The wishbone is a variation of the old "T" formation. It was brought to the major college level by Emory Bellard when he became offensive coordinator for the University of Texas. After Texas won 30 games in a row with the wishbone, Oklahoma adopted it.

Barry Switzer was a good recruiter, but not a good coach. Moose Johnston said it best about Switzer as the head coach, "We won that last Superbowl despite the coaching, not because of it."

Yeah, UT was running the bone before OU

overall pretty good list.

Couple issues.

Danny White over Dak
Demarcus Law shouldn't be anywhere near that top 5 list. He had 1 great/good year
I might put Larry Allen on the tackle list also - greatest O-linemen ever and he did play tackle
Jason garret is not better than Barry

is this a joke? Barry Switzer has one of the best winning percentages of all time in college football. He isnt a good head coach. He is greatness when it comes to the college game

and when he came to the NFL with the Cowboys he did not want to shake things up since it was working - that was smart

Any QB list without Merideth isn’t worthy.

I wanted to list Merideth but don't know what kind of team he had around him. Plus he only played 4 years as a starter.

It was more than 4. When Meredith first started, he was splitting time w/ LeBaron.

For his first 6 years, he had a crapp team around him.

Good list except for these major changes:

Quarterbacks
- Gil Brandt had it absolutely right with the QBs choosing Dak and Danny White ahead of Romo. Prescott first season as a rookie was Romo's best 13-3, with home field advantage throughout the playoffs and his consistent winning from his rookie year puts him over Romo. Danny White led the Cowboys to 3 NFC Championship games something neither Romo or Dak has accomplished. He had to replace "Captian America". So its Staubach, Aikman, Prescott, White, and then Romo. I totally understand were Gil Brandt was coming from as a Hall of Fame talent evaluator.

Fullbacks - Only one of those listed is in the Ring of Honor for a darn good reason...Don Perkins. Beside +6K yards in 7 years from the FB position, go look at his yards per reception from 1964-1966. Don Perkins no.1 by a landslide. He was so important to the Cowboys offense and rise of the Dallas Cowboys to championship contenders. He was called "4 yards and a cloud of dust". So its Don Perkins, Daryl Johnston, Walt Garrison, Ron Springs, and Robert Newhouse.

Tight Ends - Frank Clarke was a WR. Pettis Norman was the TE back in the day. I would also give the node to Billy Joe Dupree over Cosbie by a long shot. Landry had running plays for TE (single wing) so you had to run, catch, and block at TE for Landry. So its Jason Witten, Jay Novacek, Billy Joe Dupree, Doug Cosbie, and Pettis Norman.

Center - Ray Donaldson played only 2 seasons for the Cowboys. Enter Tom Rafferty part of "4 Irishmen and a Scott". So its Stepnoski, Frederick, Fitzgerald, Gurode, and Rafferty. Shout out to Dave Manders who started the C tradition in Dallas that only had 3 Centers in 30 years (Manders, Fitzgerald, Rafferty).

Defensive Ends - Demarcus Lawrence in the top 5 is a joke. Google George Andrie who would tell D Law to become a Super Bowl champion (VI), 5× Pro Bowl (19651969), First-team All-Pro (1969), and 3× Second-team All-Pro (19661968). I will put Doomsday before Haley. But Haley meant so much to winning the 90's Super Bowl. But Haley was not named Super Bowl MVP. So it is Harvey "Martinize em" Martin, Charles Haley, Ed Too Tall Jones, George Andrie, and Jim Jeffcoat.

Middle Linebacker - Chuck Howley was a OLB. So we are going to straighten up your LB picks. Cowboys had 3 MLB for the first 30 years of their history...Jerry Tubbs, who coached Leroy Jordan and coached Bob Brueing. So its Leroy Jordan, Bob Brueing, Ken Norton Jr., Jerry Tubbs and Eugene "the hitting machine" Lockhart.

Outside Linebacker - Anyone in the Ring of Honor and the only player named Super Bowl MVP for a losing team gets no.1 OLB. So Howley is no. 1. Then you need to google D. D. Lewis. So its Chuck Howley, Demarcus Ware, Thomas Henderson, Dextor Coakley, and D. D. Lewis.

Cornerback - no one comes ahead of Mel Renfro. Also Cornell Green is going to be in the top 5 at two positions just like he was a All Pro and Pro Bowler at CB and SS. So its Mel Renfro, Deion Sanders, Everson Walls, Cornell Green, and Terrence Newman. Honorable mention to Kevin Smith who if not injured, you would have never seen Sanders in a Cowboys uniform.

Free Safety - Cliff Harris, Roy Williams, Mike Downs, Brock Marion, James Washington. Mike Downs was a true ball hawk that teamed with Everson Walls and Dennis Thurman. If not for Emmitt, James Washington would have been the 1993 Super Bowl MVP.

Strong Safety - Darren Woodson, Cornell Green, Charlie Waters, Thomas Everett, and Barry Church. People forget that Charles Haley and Thomas Everett arrived at the same time...that year was Super Bowl and the start of a Dynasty.

Kicker - Dan Bailey, Rafeal Septian, Chris Boniol, Tony Fritsh, and Eddie Murray. Without Eddie Murray there is no Emmitt "Cold Shoulder" video (pressure kicks).

Punter - Danny White, Matt McBriar, Mike Saxon, Sam Baker, and John Jett. When you can be a top punter, all time leader in punts, average over 40yds per punt, and be a starting QB leading your team to 3 NFC Championship games, you are no.1 on the list.

Head Coach - Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson, Chan Gailey, Barry Switzer, and Bill Parcells. Chan Gailey made lemonade out of lemons and got to the playoffs every year. The drought happened after Gailey.

Owners -
Clint Murchinson, and Jerry Jones. Clint did everything that Jerry got in the Hall of Fame for but did it with 20 consecutive years winning, with one Head coach, one GM, and one VP of Player Personnel. He was the total opposite of Jerry's jocks and socks mentality. He did it quietly, signing Don Meredith to a service contract to by pass the draft and free agency, built Texas Stadium, hired Landry away from his Giants DC position, and resigned him to a 10 year contract when everyone thought he should be fired. This led to the 20 year win streak, 5 Super Bowl appearances, 10 NFC Championship games, and 2 Super Bowl titles.

Fans - Crazy Ray, Ms. Carolyn "mamma Cowboy" Price, CowboyZone, the old official Dallas Cowboys Forum, and Blogging the Boys.
