It would seem crazy if under new rules and fact Aldon just got reinstated that Gregory wouldn't. If he doesn't though Cowboys should explore Griffen.

I read an article on SI explaining this. In the new CBA there is a provision that if a player was currently serving a suspension when it was ratified, they must still observe their punishment from the previous CBA and Goodell is still the decision maker on who get's allowed back in. This is why Randy, Aldon and Josh Gordon are having to apply for reinstatement, so it's still a case by case deal for some players. If a player gets reinstated, he will then get the protections of the new CBA.

Could this be the icing on our 2020 off-season cake? Great draft, offense looks like it *could* be among the very best in the NFL, and now maybe our D is getting better?

our D got better when the coaching staff was let go.

Can’t recall a Cowboys player ever making more news off the field than on the field than Randy Gregory. At least 95% of the topics about him are either that he’s been suspended, awaiting reinstatement or he’s been reinstated.
you think Michael Irvin wouldnt have been suspended as much as Gregory if he played today vs the 90s?

Good to hear this news bit from Patrik Walker as more about waiting to hear from Goodell, ..than Gregory failing to file for reinstatement , as i had previously feared, .. now i'm left with what's holding up Goodell with a bit more than 30 days away from training camp reporting.

No, because Irvin would have gotten his act together because football meant too much to him. If players were going through the drug testing back then like they do now and faced suspensions he would’ve cleaned himself up. He wanted to be a great player. Gregory has already proven that pot is more important to him than football. No way would Michael Irvin allow a drug to destroy his career, costing him millions and go through what Gregory has been going through. One other point Michael Irvin didn’t have a mental health condition like what’s been reported with Gregory. There has to be something mentally wrong with a player who keeps doing this.

This is reason to almost celebrate. I'll fire up the bong anyway !

The potentiality of this news is making me hungry.

Randy smoking weed isn't just for recreational purposes though as he is bi-polar. What we discount about professional football it not only the physical but mental and emotional stress that players endure and expend. That likely takes a greater toll on Randy because of his condition.

Randy is good for this team and sport but is it really good for Randy in the long run, whether he is medicated, smokes weed or not.

He will get reinstated just in time for a season that gets cancelled....our luck...

That actually isn't far fetched considering the increase in infections popping up since the rules of engagement have been relaxed in various ways in many states. Some good news in that bad news is that the mortality rate in some areas is decreasing despite the increase in infections.

When Brett Favre was addicted to pain killers did the league suspend him an entire year every year?

Maybe we get Irving back also. Now they can smoke some weed. Lol. Someone’s gonna be a guinea pig though. MM will make example out of someone. If a player like Hill comes in with a lazy attitude or decides he don’t want to do something then MM will have him clean out his locker.

Heard that too and also if there's further substance abuse issues there's a possibility of suspension still?

I would like to see Gregory do something. Frankly I have more faith in Aldon Smith to show something since he had established himself as a top ranked player. Gregory has yet to do that, he showed some promise but nothing beyond that.
