It's hard not to see what's going on in the word and you're right, sports is an excellent distraction from the chaos. But why engage in these hypothetical games when we can talk about how we think McCarthy is going to mix the West Coast offense into the Cowboys offense or which players are going to contribute in making our ST better?

Look, if you don't like hypothetical-scenario threads, then don't participate in them. But let other people have their fun. The other remaining 95% of grounded-in-real-life threads are available for you to hang out in.

Anyway, to answer the OP:

I'm sending in Haley and Martin on the edge, but using Jason Ferguson and La'Roi Glover on the inside as DTs. Why not some other players? Because you need big stuffy nose tackles in today's era.

Curious how the word "hypothetical" caught your attention and not "game". I'm proposing we talk about what will be in reality and these games explore fantasy that never was and never will be.
That doesn't change the meaning of hypothetical. Ifs and buts ain't candy and nuts.

The traffic around here is down for a reason... people like you detract from there being more patronage.

That's a deflection that has nothing to do with anything because you've no real rebuttal of what I posted.

You didn't post a rebuttal. You blather. You said your hypotheticals were superior to anyone elses. Hypothetical is hypothetical. Doesn't matter what you think.

Did I say I posted a rebuttal? I made a comment you did not like and you were the one that failed to post a rebuttal. You are still hung up on the word hypothetical which was never the delineating factor in my point. My point is the games posted here are lame.

You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it is. I have no desire to ruin your father's day just because of your perennial pooh face. HFD

The Cowboys are up by 6 points late in the game, less than one minute to go. The other team is marching for a winnng TD, but hits 4th at 8 at Cowboy 25.

Which four-some on the DL would you want to tear off and get the game winnning sack or to block the pass. You can pick more than two DE's if you want.

My choices:
Demarcus Ware 6'4" You all know about him.
Harvey Martin 6'5" Led NFL with 23 sacks in 1977, defensive MVP, a fearsome speed rusher galore. led Cowboys in sacks his first two years as a designated pash rusher.
Too Tall Jones 6'9" When Landry turned him loose, he either got a sack, blocked the pass, or caused the throw to go so high that it was intercepted. His greatness cannot be measured on stats alone.
Bob Lilly 6'5" Perennial All-Pro, so quick, he would be in the backfield before a blink of an eye. His 29 yard sack of Bob Griese in the Jan 1972 Super Bowl, just thinking of it, gives me a jolt of electrcity and euphoria.

2nd team:

Charles Haley
Randy White
Jethro Pugh
Leon Lett

The biggest complaint fans had about Demarcus Ware was his sacks were empty. I can only think of one sack he ever had that won a game and that was against the 13-0 Saints in 2009. He strip sacked Brees in the final seconds that sealed the win. I would probably take Charles Haley if I needed a sack to win a game with Harvey Martin a close second.

When it came to timely sacks to win a game Charles Haley and Harvey Martin top the list for the Cowboys.

Exactly. A lot of his sacks were stat-padding but had no effect on the game's outcome.

Example: Getting 4 sacks in a game against the Eagles on the road nine years ago........which also happened to be a blowout 34-7 loss for Dallas.

It wasn't Ware's fault the Cowboys lost that game, of course. But in many important situations in other games where the Cowboys needed a sack to stop opposing offenses on a critical drive, the opposing QBs went unscathed and led them to victory over Dallas.

Great post. For me Lilly, White, Ware, Haley

Couple more... Martin, Too Tall and Tolbert.

Lawrence wouldn’t make my top 15.

- yeh ,, too bad ole Too Tall couldn't get to Montana for a sack (not a "hurry") on that
infamous " The Catch " TD Dwight Clark.

- Give me playoff battle tested HOF'er Charles Haley first off - and then quickest get off sack master ever in DWare.

- The bigger and better OG's seem to get as football era went on in the 80's, the more 265 pound Randy White seem to wear down at game's end.

- sorry i just didn't see Bob Lilly and dunno about the level of competition in those 60's days to know how crunch time he was for a career,..ditto for other 60's guys like Andrie, and Pugh.

- Lett was great for the two super bowls and his fumble strips on Thurman Thomas, but i also remember a collection of Cowboys DL after Kelly and Thurman, plus Lett wasn't on a HOF'er level as some others listed.

:D

Dak Prescott..oh wait lol you mean for us to win.

I'd still take Ware. And fire any ref that wants to call him offsides.

All time I'd go

LT as "THE" Alfa Dawg

My remaining 3 would probably be "Prime" Reggie, Derrick Thomas and Von Miller

I did not see Deacon Jones play

Cowboys wise I'd probably go Haley, Harvey, Ware and Too Tall

I did not see Lilly play
