Severely underpaid based on the NFL QB salaries. However, I still wouldn't pay him $40M

He was paid fairly. The cowboys ...GAVE...him a shot. They could have decided to put Romo back in (let's skip the whole he would have been injured debate....just to keep focused) . The Cowboys ALLOWED him to be where he is along with a pretty damn good team. I'd say there are a lot of teams he would not have been given a chance nor seen the same success.

If asking a question, or stating a fact is your idea of arguing, then I guess your idea of arguing and my idea of arguing are in different universes. I was simply responding to your response to my post. If you didn't want me to respond to your response, maybe you shouldn't have responded to mine to begin with. Also... I went back and re-read your response... I must have missed the part I highlighted in red.

Of course you are free to respond. Again...I never said you couldn't reply...not sure why you are going on about it.

But....I think we should take care in reading and replying. You keep making these statements about things I never said.

Ok. This could go on and on all week. After this response, you go ahead and respond so you can get the last word in. I'll just ignore the response. :lmao:Then, maybe this back and forth banter about nothing, can end.

I believe you can offer the franchise tag twice. I wanted to tell the other person but I couldn’t find where he said it

That's why I advise you have a look at the available Cap for 2021...…

We have $36m (not including any carry over from this year).

Dak's Franchise Tag for 2021 is $37.7m.

….and we have: Crawford, Lee, Clinton-Dix, Looney, Smith, Awozie, Worley, Lewis, Thomas

So will need CB's, Safeties, Edge Rushers, LBs, Center ….. all for under a million each.

There aren't really any short term, high financed contracts that can be extended at a lesser rate (unless you want to guarantee money to Coops and DLaw and give them more years - not happening).

Either way we are not going to offer Franchise Tag.

When you replace a player. His salary goes to the next player. Yeah there’s other issues sometimes. But it’s money washed

No, I intend to explain that whatever Dak got in the past is irrelevant.

Look at the CAP and you'll see why JJ wants....no probably needs to get Dak to accept 5 years.
All we have to do is re-structure like most quarterbacks. You’re making too much of this

You pay for what you get as they come out of college. You play to work for your next contract.

What are you talking about?
If I’m paying you $100,000. And I release you. What do you think happens to the hundred thousand dollars. It goes to the player I’m replacing you with. It just doesn’t go with the player that you traded or released

I think someone needs to explain to you the financial side of the game and the CAP.
I’ve been knowledgeable of the cap . When it was first implemented. I understand it much better than most. What would you like me to try to explain to you

Not when the money's already been accounted for in increases to other players.

Irrelevant. What is he worth now?

Players aren't dying to give back money when they are given large contracts they can't live up to. They shouldn't expect extra money for exceeding their agreed-upon deal.

Doesn't matter what he's worth if you cant afford it.

It is virtually impossible for us to offer Dak a Franchise Tag in 2021 without creating holes throughout the roster.
