How confident are you about these Linebackers?

LB starts up front. The scheme of the DL has to fit what our LB do best and at times last year we got exposed some when the DL allowed the center upfield to block a single LB. But last years coach at LB was terrible, we've seen nearly the same group perform at near probowl levels before that dufuss took over.

I'm good with a healthy LVE, Smith, and Lee- but depth behind that scares me.

Let's hope the DL can minimize offensive lineman getting to the second level. I'm optimistic we will improve in this regard!

if LVE is healthy...very.
if not....50/50.
i have 0 concerns with Jaylon...the turnover on def staff alone will do wonders.
i think like most young guys he tried to do too much.
i expect to see better.
have no reason to believe we won't.

The injury questions provoke skepticism, although, given sufficient health, they're a pretty formidable group. I'm not especially concerned, seeing as how they're a pretty talented group with capable backup help. There are other areas that are more prone to doubting than LB. ;)

Im giving the entire defense a clean slate. I just want to see what they can do from here. Marinelli is so trash that its pretty unfair to judge them under his crap coaching and scheme. Richard included
I always thought marinelli sucked. But i was totally fooled by richard after his first year. Turned out he sucked too.

Can we count LVE, Sean Lee, and Luke Gifford as one guy? Since we can't get a full season from one of those guys, maybe we can get a full season from the three of them. If we add them together.

Suck rolls down hill. If a supervisor sucks chances are the guys working under him will suck too. Because they'll get tired of the supervisor's B.S. and just throw in the towel. Soooooo...

Last time Nolan was a D coordinator he fielded bottom 5 defenses in the league until he was fired, be careful what you wish for.

Those falcons defenses had no talent and ravaged by injuries

Seeing how they only have 8 LB's on the roster, this is a big concern to me. They had 9, and released Covington.

LVE coming off and playing on a high career ending injury risk is huge, even though they and he say he is 100%.

Jaylon needs to get back to 2018 style. However I blame part of last year, not only LVE playing injured, but the lame coaching staff seemed to have changed up the defensive philosophy some, or were in disagreement and it reflected on the field. Jaylon's role seemed so much different than from 2018.

Lee finally played 16 games in 2019 but I think was still banged up a little, and he played well, but even he can only do so much. Can he do that again.

Thomas, is fine as a fill in for some plays here and there, and maybe even to play a few full games, but is not the every week for a full season player.
March looks lost on the field at LB play a good part of the time but is kept for ST's play.
Gifford, in his 2nd year, coming off an injury. Is he injury prone as Lee? I need to see more from him just before saying he is the next good LB in waiting. Did he make the team for lack of better talent from TC?

After that they have 2 UDFA players in Bernard and Kamura. Either one may take the place of March's place and even Gifford.

But only 8 LB's, very questionable to me. Now if they plan to use a few DE's at LB now and then in. the hybrid type looks, could be why. As can Smith and Gregory and Anea, which I believe partly why he was drafted besides being BPA and great value at the pick. But how often will they employ that style defense.
Great example and where I was going but you beat me to it..lol
The potential of the LB depth is what well elevate the entire LB group, and a more formidable DL will go a long way in keeping the LBs healthier.
I also like Bernard to make this roster, early I know, but Bernard plays above his talent... high motor and intensity, also valuable assets.

True,, LT seems to always be on the list, always much respect for T Smith and what a great player he has been for this franchise, but finding quality depth at LT is a tough venture for nearly every team in the league.
LT, probably the 2nd most important position behind QB, but could be argued.
