Great news.

Give him a contract and live to regret it by game 4-6.

He will prove we dodged a bullet. Then all his little minions on here will go into hiding or pretend they never cared to much anyways

Or

They might have the nerve to try and throw blame on other players or coaches.

Yeah and earlier today they haven’t talked since March and not likely to. Now they are talking. So this could be already done.

Hey guys printing the contract now, see ya when you get here. Will get the press and the fireworks ready. Bring the yogurt and chunky soup. And France you bring desert. Or a covered dish.

To me Dak playing on the tag is a win-win scenario for the Cowboys. You get a motivated QB to show he deserves more money and if he does play well then the team likely has more success to. If he doesn't elevate play then contract value should be less or you can move on without crippling the cap.

Dak has a lot more to lose as he's likely declining 110 millionish in guarantees in exchange for 31 million guaranteed. I don't know how far apart they're but if it's 10% on yearly contract and total guarantees it seems crazy for Dak to gamble that much.

Stand your ground Jones family and if Dam costs you a little more next off season so be it.

Here is what I want..

Let him play on the Tag in 2020.

Let him go 10-7 and either miss the playoffs or go one and done again.

that leave any extension in doubt.

Then we do not offer a second Tag and Dak hits the open market.

Let the rest of the teams make offers. Let's find out what he is worth.

Then if we want, we can make an offer AFTER the market gets set.

I think his offers will be low given the pandemic and revenues being down in 2012.

I bet we could get him on $30 mil/yr for 5 yrs. Mission accomplished and we use the crisis of the illness to our advantage.

Jerrah..send me a check and a key to the head on your boat.

Can't be sure this is 100% accurate, but it appears that dak, acting on advice of his agent, turned down 30+ million last year with approximately 100 million guaranteed and is doing so again this year. Doesn't seem to be the best advice.

Carrying Dak's $31M cap hit won't be a piece a cake.........we're stuck with it until end of the season.

People who know have been saying for a while that the salary cap hits are lower than the “APY” everybody keeps obsessing and worrying about.

Simple.

Non exclusive tag next year.

We will then see who is lining up for his services.

Mind you a trade for less than the two firsts can be worked out.

Should have done that this year and we wouldnt be in this spot, but Jerry and son have to learn as we go, as we well know.

25 years and counting!!

It does not matter what kind of tag you put on him for next year because the cap number is still going to be 37.28 million and no one will give up 2 firsts when they can get him without that if they wait a year because there is no real way to tag him a 3rd time.

:lmao:

Why would you want him/Dallas to go 10-7 and either missing the playoffs and going one and out?

I can understand if you expect it, but not wanting it.

at that point i'd probably extend Dalton and try drafting a guy early or possibly sign cam if he can still play.

I want to sign Dak long term.

But I’d rather him play on the tag this year than the Cowboys give in and give him the money he wants and the length he wants.

If both sides aren’t willing to compromise and bend some, then it’s a bad deal.

That's where I was heading..

Options.

If you believe Dak is the guy but not deserving of the overpayment..

You just wait and let the market set things.
