Seems like Dak is good at keeping a calm head and ensuring stability which is definitely an important aspect of leadership. The second aspect is making others around you better or holding them to a high standard (similar to Aikman and Brady).

That second element is not on display, and like Runwildboys mentioned, he seems to more go with the flow until he needs to turn it on. We want him chewing out players for slow first halfs or wasted 3rd downs, etc. Not always, and is a balancing act as well;see Rivers and Cutler. He's old enough now to feel he can yell at teammates when they're holding the team back, even Romo did that.

Before this off season I just took it to mean his leadership = maturity. He seems like an older soul which is a good trait for leadership. Otherwise he seemed to just toe the company line and that is enough for most label you a good leader; see Witten.

We don’t know what goes on all the time. We aren’t on the inside, but seems to me he does what you want him to.

As for Romo, people wanted to see him chew teammates out for the cameras too. He would mentioned they handled things behind closed doors.

I see Dak claiming he does it more now. I do like his quotes about even being more stern in his delivery so others know he's serious, etc. Him claiming he would like to hear from his teammates when he messes up is a bit naive when you're the QB. I highly doubt he gets called out for bad passes in the huddle if you want to continue to get looks. It always sounds good with him (he's great at pr), but he doesn't seem to elevate anyone's play...maybe Gallup but that could be bc we pass a lot in the 2nd?

I think some will always equate leadership to winning/results, so I get it. Don’t agree with it but I know I can’t change any minds.

People that have been in the grind can appreciate a good leader more during tough seasons. Many can lead when they are winning, but being a leader during tough times is a real gift.

Fair, and he did show great leadership in the playoff win against SEA and other times, etc. I am more of a W/L playoff guy and know Romo wasn't much of one either. Dak is a much better locker room guy and he's likeable in general.

Matters how long those tough times last.:p

I get your point though, anyone can lead win things are going well. The hiccup is his record last season against winning teams, or coming back when down at the half (we never did).

I do like Dak as a talent though (he's top 10) and know we can win with him if he continues to develop his passing skills like he did last season; got the ball out much quicker taking less sacks and threw down the field more.

As you know very well:D, JG's scheme was pretty dang bland so am interested to see what MM and Moore cook up for him. Get him some easier short throws in space similar to what they do for Wentz.
He lost me when he wanted more than Russell Wilson...take Goff money and he's back to fan favorite(ish).

I'm not privy to contract negotiations so I won't comment on that. What I mean as being a leader when things get tough is, will your team play for you. I saw defense and STs quit last year, our offense didn't. We had hiccups with Zeke pulling himself out and Cooper moping on the sidelines, but when the OL busts their butts for you the entire game, that tells me a lot.

True fans will let it go and root for the TEAM! All of this, Dak will regret it crap, is being spewed by people that need to move on to another team. True fans don't want him to "regret" it, they want him to win a SB. Pretenders..........time I move on. Be safe!
:clap:As always, Go Cowboys!!! :starspin:

exactly. I have been clear from beginning I wouldn't give Dak extension yet but if he goes out and lights it up leading this team deep into playoffs or even win SB. If that happens...heck give him $50 mill year :)
