If you’re referring to the 2018 season, yeah he looked like he was about to emerge and didn’t show up for the playoffs. It seems like he only has good games against the Giants, most of his TDs have come against them. He’s a serviceable TE but not an elite player. Most of the real good offenses in the NFL have an elite TE. Witten was a consistent chain mover and a good blocker which is why he got more opportunities. Jarwin can make an occasional play down the field but he’s not a good blocker and doesn’t consistently get open.
Jarwin along with Cole Beasley were limited and battling high ankle sprains heading into the 2018 playoffs, .as much as both tried to fight and
gut it out.
Witten was a 5 yard mud stopper whose best chance was sitting in a zone defense, and turning his back and churning his legs to a incoming defender.or taking on a wide busted coverage assignment ...and for you to claim he was a
good blocker,is completely laughable with all creditability goint out the window, ..anyone who really saw witten
blocking at
this stage of his career,.( instead of just saying it to try to make him appear better than what he was) ..knows he was horrid at it.
- i've said several times how if Dak wanted to call an audible for the TE to hit a deep seam on a certain coverage he quickly recognize, Dak's
best chances were to hope a coverage assignment is blown wide open because witten is Not gonna be able to run under that middle seam
pass. It actually happened in the Saints game when the middle seam was open for attack, but there was no way witten was gonna run that
down, he actually pulled up ...ironically in the same game, Dak hit Jarwin hit on a similar deep middle seam.
- At this point i do agree Jarwin could be more serviceable, but yet he still hasn't had a full season starting job chance
to be the lead role guy, and 2018 was his first short chance at getting the spotlight and show the up field ability that Witt just no longer has.
There is still some developing and rapport Blake has to gajn.
- Prior to 2018, i believe Stephen Jones was talking about the idea of drafting a TE early rounds, but the way the board went and the selection of TEs available already gone that option did not present itself, but after the team re-signed him in this 2020 off season, i think TE
went off the draft plans.
- When we see Jarwin consistently beating the better one on one coverage LBs and safeties the way we see the better receiving TEs do,..
and force teams to have to game plan for him, the way then we could see him surprisingly come into his own such as Niners George Little,
or Raiders Darren Waller did, it may not bet totally our of the question. ,,imo.
