Once again, I applaud the Voch, ****NOT-AN-OFFICIAL-SOURCE***, Okoue guys that break this stuff down for us. That was SO SHOCKING to see. We’ve all been beating up the DT’s, when (from that video) it looks like it’s mostly the edge guys and LB ****** up (and some bad safety play too). The only inside guy I see constantly getting walked back is the $9M Man.

The issue is all of them look like they arent reading the play until 2 seconds after the ball is snapped

that aint gonna cut it

also theyre confused thats evident pre snap
That's what I notice too. They aren't anticipating anything. They are waiting for it to happen and then reacting. Yikes.

I can't help but wonder if both Nolan and his players spent too much time enjoying their vacation from their preseason live preparations. Now that the season has gotten underway, the lack of proper preparation and conditioning seems to have caught up with them. Of course, the complexity of their new defensive scheme didn't do them any favors, either. Trying to catch up, under the circumstances, will prove to be a yeomen's task -- that's obvious.

Watched all of Jaylon's snaps on that video

He's reacting to the ball and not the spacing on the line

Poe plugs up walls nicely, forcing RB's to cutback inside, but Jaylon is always 2-3 steps too late to crash the hole. This is why he is always chasing from behind. He needs to use his vision and react to the nuances and spacing in the trenches and stop trying to "hawk the ball down". That's just football IQ man

Go watch film on Luke Kuechly, he telegraphs run plays and is able to predict where the ball carrier will end up by reading the offensive lineman and his own defensive lineman and the nuanced interactions between them. Jaylon is tunnel visioned on the ball itself and tries to chase it. Jaylon also "gives up" when blocked and gets blown 4-5 years out of the play. He doesn't fight and maintain ground when getting blocked. Just poor effort man.

So, this does NOT look like a coaching issue anymore...unless Nolan is actually telling his DE’s to crash and his LB’s NOT to scrape and get off blocks. This is ALL on the players. The only thing I’m actually gonna get in the coaches, in particular MM, was his insistence to play Steele over Knight.

I never thought Jaylon should be in the middle
I know in the off season many loved the idea but to me his strength doesn’t fit the spot
Sadly it’s not just Jaylon but the team that’s looking like they see everything way to late
I know lee is fragile but for as long as he can last I’d stick him in the middle and Jaylon on the edge where he can have an effect on the pass rush

Its like the cowboys defense has literally no feel for the flow of the game. JLaw is an embarrassment.

On the slow mo Poe seems to be doing better then I expected. To many blown assignments

And this type of criticism fits nicely into what other beat reporters, etc. from the Falcons said about Nolan and his defenses then.

The BULK of the damage on the running plays is occurring on outside runs.

Yep Trysten hill has actually been almost dominate so far this season. It’s unfortunate our LB’s and DB’s suck.

He's saying the same thing that I've been thinking. Teams are running the same type of play on us over and over yet we don't seem to notice.

A lot of this is hangover from Marinelli. They are defending the run on the way to the QB. That works a whole lot better with a 3rd lb on the field. Pretty sure that was what McCarthy was referring to about relying on the previous scheme when things are going poorly.

That's something that we can clean up. Always a struggle to change schemes but with no preseason, this is what you get early.

How unlucky can JJ be?????? First he turns into Saint Jerry when he drafts a BROKEN DOWN J. Smith in the 2nd rd and the WHOLE NFL world went nuts saying Jerry was the best thing since slice bread because he drafted a kid who will more than likely not play in the NFL because of a horrible leg injury that was sustained in a meaningless college game. Yes, jerry rode in on a white horse and injected life into this kids football career. Jerry brought in the best medical team money could buy and saved J. Smith's career! J. Smith's career looked promising from the start because Jerry made sure he surrounded J. Smith with other Linebackers who were smarter than he was and who were better than he was until it was time to take off the training wheels and let J. Smith prosper on his own. Coaches and players from a far were melting over J. Smith's ability to run like the wind on a football field and were all saying, " He's going to be a star in this league". Yes, Saint Jerry was so proud of his J. Smith that he opened up the skies and rewarded him with a $64 million dollar contract. The Gods all gave their blessings to Saint Jerry for rewarding J. Smith with such a contract for working so hard to get back on the football field and what has J. Smith given back to Saint Jerry for such a rich contract....... that's rights.............NOT A DAM THING! J. Smith is a fraud, he's a bum, his a fake, hell I could go on and on, but I'm afraid Cowboys Forum will start charging me for the extract lines. J. Smith needs to be BENCHED, he needs to be forced to watch HIS game films over and over and over again, until he says UNCLE and gives Saint Jerry back the money he's been stealing from him attempting to impersonate a Pro Bowl Football Player.
