Gallup versus Cooper

As Romo pointed out, Gallup runs more go-routes than any WR in the NFL. He basically said we have significant match-up problems that we could exploit, running the ball and then attacking down field. Interestingly, Kyle has the following numbers on Twitter:

This idea he can replace Cooper is utterly asinine. While he’s no doubt demonstrating himself as a threat, schematically he’s getting all the advantage because of teams focusing on Cooper. He is getting all these one-on-one matches and his route tree is extremely limited. Giving the money Cooper’s contract to him is just dumb at this stage and it’s pretty much the Dak-stans, when they need to look for another scapegoat, they come up with Cooper..

With our three WRs and running game to boot, this is a QBs dream.

My man, these fans are some ungrateful mofos. Don't they know how hard Cooper has to work to get open for Dak. And like you said, Cooper is entitled to Not get his head taken off going all out for a Dak pass. At the end of the game Dalton put the ball right where it needed to be for Cooper to get the 1st.

I for 1 know that CD is shinning because he is in the slot . same reason Shultz is getting forced fed. I also know the value of Cooper to Dak.

But that will all change and the man receiving a target will be determined by the allignmentof the defense. Whereas Cooper is a nesecity for Dak to shine. Gallup is a number 1 with a legit QB. Dalton may be good enough. Light years better then Dak in hitting the routes Gallup runs.

I believe we can cut Cooper after next season with no cap hit. That time line lines up with Gallup's contract. I wouldn't be surprised if after 2021 Cooper is cut and we go forward with Gallup and Lamb.
The Cowboys will not need to because the QB contract will be cheap next year

Need to give to get.

Gotta trade one of these max contracts: Tank, Amari, Zeke or Zack

Not trading either Zeke or Zack.

You can’t trade any of them other than Amari.

The cap damage isn’t worth it.

He gets the Dez treatment.

Amari Cooper is an artist at the position but he frustrates me. His body language just screams that he isn’t all in at times.

That’s just personality. He’s just not in your face, never has been. Dez is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Now that I think about it, I don’t even remember Cooper really celebrating his TDs.

Cooper is the no.1 hands down. If he had a more accurate qb, he'd be top 4 instead of top 10.

Cooper was 4th in the league for receiving yards going into this game and is on track to have 1,350+ yards. Anyone who says he's anything but a stud WR has rocks in their head.

I fully expect the cowboys to release cooper after next year , if they can’t trade I’m, and then pay Gallup.

What I've been saying for a while now. Nice to see it backed with data.

Gallup beats man coverage. Can make catches with a man nearby. And while that's good, it's not so good that he doesn't get more separation.

His yards are a product of being opposite to Cooper taking double teams. He'll get production like a 1 here, but he'll sign elsewhere as a 1, and won't be nearly as effective.

To drum up some hysterica, I'd trade him this year, before we're relying more and more on Lamb and Wilson. Sell high.

I'd like to be a team with a lot of cap to spend next year. The free agent market should get squeezed from the declining cap and existing contracts premised on an increasing cap.

Cooper's contract means he is staying here...

What ticks me off is the talent evaluation on the Cowboys.

I love Cee Dee Lamb...but did we need a receiver? Wilson and Brown look real good. We needed D help more than reciever help...

Cooper's not going anywhere. Right now I'm enjoying the coop, Gallup, lambo trio and rising stars Cedric Wilson and schultz.

Gallup is probably going to be traded while he has worth. He's going to come due for a big payday. They are too deep at receiver and have lots of other needs. It's too bad because that dude is clutch when the game is on the line. He makes some spectacular catches 10 feet in the air.

We have 3 great WRs. I don't see the problem. Who cares who's better? Teams can't guard all 3. My biggest concern is that we won't be able to keep all 3 and we'll waste our opportunity to take advantage of the best WR corps in the NFL. Just look what happened at OL. We had 3 elite OL and now we have 1 and a bunch of nobodies. Good things don't last forever. Take advantage of it while you can.

If you cut him in the 2022 offseason, it's a dead cap of 6mil, but cap savings of 16mil. Same goes for if you trade him then too.

Cooper, on the other hand, is legitimately one of the cleanest route runners in the game, extremely precise..
When he wants too. His rounded off lazy in route he ran 2 weeks ago sucked and it resulted in a pick. But when he wants to run a route, he is the best.

I don’t think any logical fans thinks Gallup will replace Cooper
He’s a different player
Lamb will replace Cooper after 2021
