Wouod you trade Cooper and a 3rd for a first? Cooper and a 4th for a first seems about right. That would probably be my floor.

No way on cooper + 3 for 1...I'm not even doing Cooper +4 for 1..

Its probably a late 1..and Dallas picks are at the top of every round

Something is not right about this article. Cooper is guaranteed $40 million. That's his $10 million salary in 2020, his $10 million signing bonus and his $20 million 2021 salary, all guaranteed. If the Cowboys trade him in 2020 I believe they have the option to take the full cap impact of $40 million this year, but they only have $28 million in CAP room right now. If they cut Poe and Worley they have to take another roughly $5 million cap hit. There is no save of Cooper's $20 million 2021 salary because his salary is guaranteed.

I would absolutely consider trading him for the right price. Even with his nagging injuries he has been productive enough to garner some interest.

The emergence of Lamb and the potential of Gallup and Noah and Cedrick make him an asset we can move now for the right price imo
Agreed.

1st and a 2nd and I'm down.
I would move Elliott for a 2nd.

His contract is a problem and lessens his value.

Besides....do you think that other teams dont see on tape that he cant run anymore, or hold the ball?

These type of deals are more about salary relief than what you're getting back.

Getting absolved of colossal mistakes is part of it.

All VERY moot because none of this Jerry would ever do. Makes way too much sense.

I’m giving them Amari for a first round pick. Lol

Then have fun watching the Packers destroy the Cowboys (again) the next time we play them. And it won't be a miracle Rodgers come back, it'll be a 50-3 beat down.

Not me....

Let me start this by saying. I never understood why some people don’t like Amari Cooper. I get that his “body language” and “facial expressions” turn some folks off.

that being said. Cooper has come through for the cowboys in a bunch of big games and made a ton of big plays for the cowboys.

He is legit like a top 7 receiver in the whole league. He is in the group of receivers right after the very elite.

even now, Cooper is #5 in receiving yards in The whole league and that’s including 2 games of playing with trash at QB.

That being said. I take a first rounder for him. Lamb is the future.

If you DO trade Cooper though. Then you have to resign Cedric Wilson and Michael Gallup when they become free agents.

I think the same folks ripping Cooper for his body language would also complain about a receiver who shouts and screams on the sideline too and causes a bit of a ruckus. There’s no pleasing some folks.

I'd have to get that 1st rounder. Like the article says, even Muhamad Sanu got a 2nd round pick last year.
What was Sanu's contract situation though?

If someone offers a 2nd you take it. Amari has a poor reputation around the league. After last season, on Cowboys Break they were talking about how some of the Cowboys coaches thought he wasn't playing tough last season.

Give me the 2nd and I'm satisfied to have the loser gone.

Sanu got the Falcons a 2nd round pick last year - Sanu.

If a team feels that they're in contention, and a receiver like Cooper would put them over, I could see it happening. Whether that's likely or not is another story.
how much was sanu making? I wonder, if the $20M salary for 2021 is a deterrent, specially given the lower expected cap for 2021.....

But another team would be taking on that salary.

Not the case in a straight cut.

I dont understand it much either. Just saying the logic part.

It strengthens the Packers in the short run, but the cap implications weaken them over the longer haul. Amari is not as athletic as he used to be. Would you enjoy watching Amari drop passes or sulk in a game against us?

What if trading Amari allowed you to get a Byron Jones or a great safety?

So a rookie who may be a bust is a service needed. lol.
No, Cooper is Dak’s guy. If you are trading him that is what you are saying to Dak. You do realize Cooper is a big reason why Dak is so good right?

Guaranteed salary is irrelevant if it hasn’t been paid. His new team takes that on.

I think the timing of the acceleration of the SB is wrong.

At this point, for me...its not about bashing Cooper as much as it would simply be a good football move.

Between the cleared salary and pick you can add 2-3 starters to the defense.

This team is way beyond awful to dwell on Coopers negatives, but I felt the need to point it out to support the point.

Where’s the evidence that he has a “poor reputation around the league?”

NFL teams don’t like guys who are in the convo for top 5 receivers in the league?

And the team thought he “didn’t play tough last season” yet signed him to a massive contract extension? That doesn’t make much sense.
