Wish somehow Romo would be bought out from CBS and put into the primetime slot on SNF. that would be awesome. But CBS got their hooks on him for 10 years at almost $18m per.... So i guess not.

I like Collinsworth. At worst, he's the 2nd best color guy/analyst in the NFL. He's much better than Troy at actually not missing things going on the field. Troy sounds more professional and Collinsworth is kinda goofy. Only reason I can think of that people hate on Collinsworth.

Maybe we might end up with NFL games every night of the week

Oh no please no. I was hoping NBC could steal Monday Night football from them. Let ESPN have Thursday Night Football or something no one cares about.

ESPN will screw it up and it will fail miserably like most of their business ventures. NBC should sell it and watch it crumble and pick the NFL rights in a few years.

No way, how about nbc gets monday night football for free from espn.

Espn needs to fire everyone at their station. They need to higher one guy to play highlights, and one to put music to the highlights. Then they rotate hours with different sports, and a couple times a day they have a combined show where they play music and highlights from all sports.

They then only sell commercial time to advertisers that talk about food, sports stuff, have pretty women, and are funny.

Due to commentary over stuff not related to sports, drama that is not needed, and a bunch of crap shows and people they have put up to have a 24 hour cycle they lose the right to show any actual sport games on their network.

The article from Total Pro Sports is from 2015 but the insert from the post is dated 11/02/2020. The problems I have with this article is first the claim that the NFL could conclude these negotiations by the end of the year. That's over two tears before their contracts with NBC,FOX and CBS are up and the NFL in the past has never gotten their TV contracts locked up that far out. Second the Post article says that they would put SNF on ABC and ABC once before had the biggest game of the week on ABC MNF but they eventually pushed it off on ESPN and their numbers dropped and have never returned to what they were when it was on ABC. Part of it I believe is when games are on FOX, NBC, CBS and ABC anyone with just an antenna can watch the games, but when they are on ESPN you need either cable or a dish to watch those games and unless it's written in the contract that the games HAVE TO STAY on ABC, my fear is at some point ABC will again push SNF on ESPN thus reducing the possible viewers. The Cowboys play a lot of games as the 2nd game on Sundays so I get most of those locally and I always look forward to the Cowboys being on Sunday and Thursday nights because I know for sure I'll get them, but if ABC at some point moves SNF to ESPN that will make it harder for me. I gave up my dish about 4 years ago because of some health problems and I couldn't work then so I had to make some cut backs. A couple years ago I found a box that you pay a one time fee up front that gets it signal from my wifi and I can get games that aren't on locally but the problem is some of the links for the games don't always work so then I have to stream it on my computer where I can use different sites that aren't available on this box.

Well it would be on ABC , not espn if they got it.
Disney has billions to play with, they might buy al and chris from SNF, as what would they do otherwise for nbc?
As long as it is on abc and they keep al and chris, I am cool with it.
I dont think they would be stupid enough to change announcers and format, but they might be that stupid.
It could be just a change in channels.

If Disney were smart, they would have put mnf on abc years ago and have more viewers, get better games, and make more money.
having it on espn is just ********. I did not know they owned espn.
So they might be dumb enough to screw it all up lol. Buy a good product and downgrade it lol.

MNF was originally on ABC with Frank Gifford, Don Meredith and Howard Cosell and then in 1984 ABC bought ESPN and then shifted MNF to ESPN and since then in 1995 Disney bought ABC. Chris and Al are under contracts with NBC not SNF so unless Disney buys out their contracts AND NBC decides to accept that, it probably would mean there will be different announcers just like when MNF switched from ABC to ESPN. I like the SNF theme, although I like the original by Pink the best but Carrie Underwood is better to look at, but I doubt that comes with SNF.

the way I see it if your paying billions for the rights, what is a few million more to keep the same announcers?
That is how it should be done, but no telling what would happen.
I dont really care for the music aspect, or theme song, I really dont like the current them, I mute that, lol. I dont think that really matters.
But the announcers do matter.
Thanks for the history on that, didnt know abc bought espn, if so they were stupid to move mnf from abc to espn.

MNF on ESPN is worse than bad. It's boring. The announcers are ridiculously boring.
