Wow these stories of losing mothers really hit at home this morning. I lost my mother at the age of fifteen. I will never forget that early morning when the phone rang. She was in the hospital being treated from a heart attack. Three days later the phone range around 3 a.m. My father answers with my sister picking up the other phone at the same time, I will never get the sound out of my mind of my sister screaming and wailing as she ran down the hall to my fathers room.

My father died a few years later at a healthy age of 55 of natural causes. We know he died from a broken heart as he never got over the loss of her. The were childhood friends and neighbors, got married at 18 and was together for every moment of their lives.
Prayers to you brother,much love.

Salud, brother! I have to admit I shed a few tears reading these posts. Like you said, it feels good to reflect and remember their memories.

Yes brother it is. Ive lost my brother and my fiance in the last 8 years and a girl who was basically my sister. Life is definitely not an easy thing. But God gives his hardest tasks to his toughest soldiers. We honour them by living our lives.

I lost my mother to breast cancer in march. She fought hard the first round and kicked its ***! Came back and cancer had spread to her liver, brain and breast a year later at a rapid speed. She opted out of more chemo and was sent home on hospice a few days later. She passed away and waited for her husband, kids and grandkids to all leave the room.

She was my rock, my backbone. We talked every morning when I got older. We didn’t have the best relationship growing up.

My second son was born on September 22nd. The same birthday as my mom. My wife said the next morning she woke up, she felt somebody sitting on the end of the bed watching over our newborn.

It’s tough and the pain never goes away.

Such a sad but amazing story all at once. So sorry for your loss, man. The pain never fully goes away, but it does dull with time. Enjoy that miracle boy! So special that he was born on your mom’s birthday

You never really never understand how precious life is until you get smacked like a truck head on. This happened to me in 2010 when I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I am blessed that I have a wonderful family, relatives and friends fighting with me. It's been 10 1/2 year battle and I still get blood plasma every month, Treatment is $7000 a month thank God it is taken care of by medicare. I have lost many friends in those 10 years from Cancer and I am blessed I am still around. Last year I was able to walk my oldest daughter down the aisle and it was very emotional for me. Back in 2010 I didn't think I would see my children grow up who were young at the time or be able to walk my 2 daughters down the aisle. I am praying hard for Coach Paul to come through this although it looks very bleak at the moment. I can't imagine what the family is going through at the moment, God bless them.

Most S&C coaches are in great shape and look out after their bodies. It's scary to think about these guys just dropping from a heart attack. Athletes, too. We hear about it every year.

Unfortunately no amount of conditioning can overcome congenital defects or other genetic conditions. People in otherwise great health drop dead all the time when some genetic time bomb in their bodies goes off. It's further illustration of just how little we know about the human condition. Which brings me to another aspect of this situation that has been discussed here. The matter of brain death.. I am a firm believer that just because we can't detect brain activity doesn't mean it's not there. Our instruments simply don't reach down far enough. We've all heard stories of people who have been pronounced dead.. even rolled down to the morgue only to revive later.. No explanation .. medical or otherwise.. so we call them miracles.. Here's hoping Mr. Paul gets to be one of those..

Thats nuts man. I know some forms of leukemia/lymphoma can take years to go into remission. Best wishes your way to one day have it in complete remission.

My fil has cll. It claimed his mom and aunt years ago and he's in the stage before any treatment can be done. Hopefully 2021 has better days for all of us.
