What gives you hope?

After the last 25 years, it is clear- Jerry Jones and his front office don’t know how to build a winner. Period. It’s not even something that’s arguable. They don’t know what they are doing. The results speak for themselves. Some clear evidence:
  • Jerry’s teams in the 21st century have made the playoffs 7 times in the last 21 seasons.
  • After the great draft haul of 2016, this team hasn’t made the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years.
  • In the last 25 seasons including this one since we won a divisional playoff game, we have had 6 head coaches, 7 different OCs, and 8 different DCs. And the same GM. And 4 playoff wins.
I could go on. But my question is this- where is the hope? I’m not joking or being sarcastic. Serious question. What is the hope Cowboys fans can hang on to?
  • Is our hope pinned to believing we will get healthier next year, thus greatly improve?
  • Is our hope based on the fact we will have good draft position?
  • Is hope now based in somehow believing the Jones boys have learned something?
  • Should we forget the two decades plus of evidence that Jerry literally doesn’t know what he’s doing as GM?
I’m serious when I ask what gives you as a Cowboys fan hope for the future?

The only hope I have- two things- Having good luck and being able to acquire so much talent, it can overcome the completely clueless GM. That’s it.
I have no hope of ever winning anything significant under Jerry and his idiot boy, this is just entertainment and I treat it as such. As a result, I have zero emotional attachment to this franchise anymore. That is why I usually just laugh at them when they get their arse kicked instead of getting mad like I did when I was younger.

First I will say I have adjusted my expectations long ago to being satisfied with making the playoffs as a SB appearance with Jerry calling the shots is just not a realistic scenario .

Some of the young talented players we draft give me hope at times only to leave me in total disgust after they get paid and choose to avoid contact to prolong their careers .

That said when we get our Oline and QB back healthy along with some draft picks I have hope we will again contend for a playoff spot . Realisticly thats all we can really expect to hope for with the talent we have running our front office .

I will stay the course and finish the game to the box but there are too many Jones for me to outlast them and have hope for a SB

I cling to hopes that Stephen might see fit to hire a GM when Jerry "kicks the bucket," even if it's a longshot. o_O

Now, I know I may not live long enough to see that happen, so I content myself by merely being entertained. :(

I should confess that I inwardly get a certain mean-spirited sense of satisfaction by criticizing our front office! ;)
He actually said he would hire a GM but that was years ago and before he had his own radio show and learned to make excuses for poor performance. Mark Davis learned but Mike Brown did not.

The emotional attachment Jerry has with the players will never allow us to make prudent business decisions. Many of the decisions this team makes are clearly inexcusable but they are being made for reason other than trying to produce a winning team. This atmosphere quickly permeates throughout the entire team, including those who are not part of the cool kids. The result is what you have seen on the field this year and almost every year for the past 25 years.

Gee........lets see:

-Getting back: Tyron Smith, Collins, Martin, Biadasz, Jarwin, Diggs.
-Garrett and Marinelli are no longer here
-Top 5 pick in the draft in every round
-Development of Gallimore, Wilson on defense and possibly McGovern on offense
-The ability to free up 30 million in salary after next season by dumping Zeke and Jaylon Smith
-Possibility to free up another 20 million if we want to move on from Cooper
-Last years draft
Don’t be surprised if you get a season ticket sales letter this coming spring.

They still selling those “Gene Jones Jeans” at the stayjum Art? I belly laugh every time I think about that! BTW, I think Jerral Wayne’s strategy is even simpler than hope. It’s just having another bottle of JWB and a box seat in his stayjum to watch his toy. That’s the plan.

Is that why Dez Bryant was on the Ravens sideline?

..our hope lies in the heavy conundrum of reality staring at Jerry Jones. He's in a age bracket, that life is fragile and gifted. He could just throw in the towel, and start in left field.

I don’t dispute any of your points. Just having fun. I hope everything on your list happens.

I really think a top 5 pick is EXACTLY what this team needs to bolster a talent deprived defense.

-----I thought a new coach might bring some hope but I was wrong. Jerry and his son sucked the life out of this team!

Yes, because they brought in the WRONG coach.

I'm holding my ground, hoping that SJ's excuses aren't mutually inclusive with changing his mind about hiring a GM.

After all, it's the only hope I have left to cling to. Any hope at all for an eventual turnaround is a sacrament to me. ;)
