For the last 7 seasons the cap has risen about at least $10mil. Once the 17 game season goees in effect & the new TV deals it's going to blow up.

But yeah, the scenario above kinda depends on the $20mil from worst case cap in 20

Denim, this is not a fact. NFL viewship is seriously down this year, in a year that it should be way, way up with stadiums closed and Covid, it's down by a lot. NFL is losing money in the 2020 season. There is no guarantee that things will go up. Just last year, I was told that the cap would not go down in 21. No chance at all of that happening. Well, guess what, even if it somehow goes to 195 mil, a 20 mil increase from what many are reporting, that's still a decline from the previous cap year. Virtually every sources is predicting that the cap will not go up. I don't see how the whole "blow up" thing is going to materialize.

Yes, your are right and that is true, but much of the revenue loss from this year is due to COVID & team revenue. Shared revenue (which is tied to TV deals) is not really affected by NFL viewership numbers, because they have already signed their exclusivity deals ahead of time (would only be affected if NFL cancelled games). And while NFL viewership is down (in comparison with itself last year), the NFL games still make up the highest viewership numbers for the networks, so I do not expect future deals to be impacted.

Not a free agent but could be a cap casualty is Akeem Hicks of the Bears. He would be what we need at the 1 tech. Reasoning is the Bears are over the cap, have no QB and owe Hicks 12 mil with little guaranteed. Think dead money is only $1 million.

Yes it is but so what. When is Covid gone and when are things getting back to normal? I realize that right now, shared revenue is not linked to an inked contract but we are talking about a new TV deal. That means that there is no dry ink on a contract and it means that viewship will have an impact on a deal that is offered. Who offers more money for less production? I mean, I know our fans like to do that with players but that's not how business generally works. That's gonna impact the number IMO and because we have no way of knowing how long it will take to get back to normal, so called experts say that it never will get back to how it used to be. I don't agree with that but I've heard it said from the so called experts. We don't agree here Denim. I just don't think you can count on any of that and I think it's a serious mistake to bet on all of that when there is no reason to believe that any of that will happen. I think it's dangerous.

Wouldn't mind them poking around on Marcus Maye from the Jets. He might be a solid addition for the single high safety in Quinn's system.

All true but he still has the same head on his shoulders.

Make him feel "disrespected" and its chaos.

I'd rather just pass. I don't see the upside as being much....and it's time to invest some FA $ or high draft capital in the position.

Reasonable point about feeling disrespected. That's almost always what it comes down to.

I think a quality linebacker starter can be found in this year's draft, I'm not sure about FS/NT, especially being impactful in yr 1.

I think there are a few prospects at DT and S out there that can be very good picks. But you're right, I think playing S is a tough position to come into and do well, the first year. I think it's probably easier for a DT to make some plays and have an effect year 1.

I'm not totally educated on all the LB's this year, but I fear that a high quality LB may be one of the thinnest positions in this draft, which kind of scares me.

The cap and Dak's contract will obviously affect what we will ultimately do in free agency, but now that we have Quinn confirmed as the DC, these are the free agents we could target to help get his defense off the ground.

I like what we have at DE & I really do not see any great options out there for LB, so I focused on 1T, 3T, & FS where I think we need the most help:

DL
Shelby Harris
Dalvin Tomlinson
Poona Ford
DaQuan Jones
Roy Robertson-Harris

FS
Marcus Maye
Justin Simmons
Marcus Williams

Poona Ford is a restricted Free Agent. I think Seattle will give him a 1st round tender meaning Dallas will have to give up a 1st round pick to get him, assuming he is willing to sign with Dallas. I would add Sheldon Rankins to the list of DTs FAs. New Orleans has the worst CAP situation in the league and I don't think they will be able to resign him. Of the players on this list, I would take Tomlinson or Rankins.
