I saw Carlin at least 5 times and he progressively got angrier and the last show he had at Olla Podrida in Dallas people actually got up and walked out on him. I had never heard so many gd's in any comic's act before, had to be well over 50 halfway through it, it's as if he was out to offend certain people and he actually glared at some people walking out. Add to that, this was his "I hate golf" phase and he was in one of golf's hottest spots in the country. He did everything but hate on golfers playing on Sunday morning.

I loved early Carlin but the latter angry preacher act got old quickly. And the fact he was not getting response from the crowd didn't seem to bother him at all. Some of his new stuff was falling flat and he did a terrible job of reading the room. I do not think he should have performed that night and the write up he got in the DMN on Monday really sliced him up and left him for dead.

My wife and I talked about that night and wondered what had happened to send him into such a dark rant with nothing really funny about it. He was far too clever and talented to have done that.

Yes, Carlin was great and so is Chappelle. The Charlie Murphy bits had me in stitches. Skins versus blouses...

Norm MacDonald is an underrated one. He's almost a better interview, but love Norm.

Bernie Mac owned rooms when he was doing his thing. Really underrated in terms of his place historically, etc. (rarely mentioned with the bests)

Godfrey is a guy I've seen off and on, but dude has some of the best impressions I've come across lately. His Steve Harvey and Richard Pryor are too good. "How are none of my kids funny?" in that high pitch Pryor voice.

Regan, Gaffigan, and Maniscalco are the clean comics I can tolerate.
"Never trust a man who doesn't drink, smoke, or swear. At least one vice to prove your human, come on" o_O Those are the guys who end up having torture basements :laugh:

Poor poor Dane, he's actually a pretty likeable guy when he's not doing stand up. I remember he was in a Louis CK episode about his joke theft and he was actually really funny about it.

I like Vos too, he's been one of those comics whose been around for a minute and like his angle/NY style. DiPaolo was really good with that old Colin Quinn show that had Patrice O'Neal, Jim Norton, DiPaolo and some other NY comics too. Felt like the View for degenerates, was gold :D

For me George Carlin. by a mile and some of Bill Burr.
George was very intellectual and some people were not up to his level to understand

I just recently learned that the movie Van Wilder was based on Brett Kreischer's college years. That's awesome. His The Machine skit is absolutely fantastic. From what I've read (and I'm sure some parts were exaggerated for comedic value) it was a real trip he took.

I learned about Kreischer trough Joey Diaz, and agree he's a cool comic. I watched that machine sketch after the fact (he told the story on a Diaz podcast I think) and it was great. He's almost similar to Diaz in that they're almost funnier in the interviews/podcast formats. I can now see the Van Wilder connection now that you mention it...shoot Frank the Tank too unofficially, etc.

So he was just living on college campus and taking golf carts in his robe? lol That movie was great, have to rewatch that.

Agreed!! Since learning of this I also have been wanting to rewatch that movie. I will have to find a way. I'm sure one of the 1 billion streaming services has it on there. lol There is a small possibility I own in on DVD somewhere.

I don't think anyone is doing it better than Chappelle right now. He's also reached a place in his comedy where he doesn't let corporate dollars dictate his comedy, like say Kevin Hart does.
