This post is more of just being a Dallas Cowboy fan and being frustrated so cut me some slack. I am just so tired of hearing about Dak Contract from all these talking heads and predicting what the price should be and that Dak has all the power etc. The last thing I saw today was $40 million for a 3 year deal. Media are like enjoying that he going to be or should be a $40 million player. A part of me says...Sign him and move forward......but 40 million is a lot of cash with not way to spread signing bonus or anything. I just don't get it. I wish we would have lost games and been in a position to draft Wilson.....I really do..... Honestly I think for the first time that JJ might just trade him or something ...I just don't feel confident. I have been a fan since 77......I remember Dorsett holding out....I remember Smith holding out....all of those where..it's going to happen. I just don't see that with Dak. I like him I support him, but we haven't got close to a Championship Game....What happens if in 3 years...we still are a middle team because of the salary hit...do they sign him again.....I would appreciate comments to see what are you thoughts....What is the consensus.....Thanks.

This team even with the best players around him( proven) is going nowhere with DAK......
If they Tag him or give him a massive deal it will be our gravestone for the upcoming years.

Jones will tag him and Dak will be more than happy to take the 37 million.

I just don't see Jones giving Dak that 100+ million contract with a signing bonus and everything else at this point.

Biggest Dak fan here...

$40 million is waaaay too much. It will hurt this team's ability to afford to build a SB capable team.

$32 - $35 is plenty enough for Dak and best for the team.

I agree, I think something in that range for 3 years would be acceptable. Once you get to 40 million that is to much for a QB with no Super Bowl. You win a SB in 3 years they will pay him 40 million, but paying 40 million now.....Not good football sense. You watch when it's Mahonmes salary takes effect. You will watch the team start to crumble and everybody saying he going to win multiple SB is going to eat their words. I think he can win another, but he better win it fast or else it's going to become more difficult as the years pass.

I like Dak too but your right 40 million is way to much for him but I be surprise if he signs 32-35 million either. As far as in 4 years they are still middle of the row team than cut him and find another Qb.

Giving Dak 37 million is as prudent as seen here-below.

I hope that's not the price, I just don't see how the Cowboys will be able to keep talent and be competitive. I know Dak is a solid player but I just don't see 40 million and I don't care what all those talking heads say. I don't think anything more then 35 should be the price. Its funny ..if and when he signs a contract....most people will say Over paid even the media......but how they like to state how much they think he should sign for. He is worth what he is worth...I say 34-36.......I don't care what people say that he is in charge or in control. If he leaves I will hate that team forever and I will root against him every game.

Thats absurd.

The numbers are a bit high but I actually think we may start seeing these types of structure deals for QBs going forward. Players get another bite of the pie after 3 years but at the same time, teams aren't locked in long-term if they want to go a different direction ( see Goff and Wentz ).

#2 overall alone won't do it for me but add 2021 2nd, 2022 1st and their young DT Williams or QB Donaldson, we have a deal.

You guys may as well forget ANYTHING under $37M. This is his floor, min. He will NOT sign a long-term that doesn't start at $37M and he shouldn't. I'm not saying he should get $41M or even 40M but anything under 37M is a non-starter.

Thank he probably won't be Dallas Cowboys after this year. I still. hope they sign him but it seems the percentage is falling. I understand his floor is 37 million, but that only because the Franchise Tag is set at that price. But if you give him that or less for 3 or 4 years than I am sure it will work. It's like saying his Franchise for next year. 2022 is $54....nobody is gonna pay that......without a raise in the cap.....so using that....yes the average has to be around 37 million, but doesn't mean it has to be more.....it's not written in stone.

The only other option would be a trade that Dak has to agree to.

Jones is not going to let Dak become a UFA and get nothing in return.
No team will give Dak 37 million so Jones better get used to the idea he is getting a comp pick if he is done with Prescott.

I just don’t understand the logic of being ok with 34-36 but not 40. You’re really making a fuss about 4-6 million dollars? You really think that’s gonna make it break this team lmao. Drawling the line over 3% extra of the cap is ridiculous

I really hope they try and just draft one... because we really need to sink that $40mil a year in a plethora of other places.
