Bottom line is Jerry has bumbled the Dak negotiations

At 40 million or 41 million per year average, were at the ridiculous point. If that is truly where we are.

Jerry could have had this wrapped up for 35 million or a little less two years ago and 35 million just last year and he blew it. So if he has to pay upwards of 40 million, then he blew it.

On the surface, it looks like Dak cares about maximizing his money. If all this salary conjecture is really true. His determination to maximize his money 3 years from now with the TV contract shows again, that we will have to do this all over again, and the numbers will be even more crazy. If the rumors are true.

Problem is we have NO other options at the moment.

Cutting Dak for nothing is just dumb. Simply cant do that. You either sign Dak 3 years and work on his replacement during that time or you trade him.

Giving away the rights to Dak is NOT an option.

Here are the options I see that make any sense:

-Sign Dak, play out the next 3 years, continue to build the defense and team around the QB
-Sign Dak, at some point trade him while you build the defense and team around the QB
-trade him now before the draft

Options that make ZERO sense:

-Let Dak walk
-let Dak play on the tag this year and let him walk

Either way, this Jerry/Dak contract is to the point of total stupidity. Needs to be done with already one way or the other.

The reality is there is a lot that we don't know.

I think Dak's representation switching agencies and Dak's injury have impacted these negotiations more than anything. Regardless, both sides have to want to get this thing done. Going months without speaking because one of the other sides feels "disrespected" is absolute lunacy. Jerry needs to look out for his franchise and Todd France needs to look out for his client.

Are you saying that one side said they have felt disrespected? My frustration is that we hear nothing from any side about anything. Things just drag on.

Speculation on my end.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dak's camp felt disrespected because everyone else's deal got done and Jerry and the FO are probably butt hurt that Dak is not willing to take a team friendly discount.

Jerry is the problem.

That’s been the case ever since he fired Jimmy Johnson.

I still can’t believe the huge contracts Jerry gave Jaylon and Zeke before securing his most important player.

When you make mistakes like that you end up where we are now, with no good options left and more mediocrity.

The Jones’s don’t feel that Dak is worth what he asked for 2 years ago, 1 year ago and now. Weather they are right or wrong remains to be seen. We shall see.

They offered him $35 million/year last year. Dak did not take it.

Lol oh now he’s ok with getting rid of Dak.

I knew some of you would start seeing things my way..

I’m owed an apology now that my opinion is mainstream enough for some of you to finally accept it.

Who said they were ok with getting rid of Dak that didn't before? I didn't read that at all.he list the options that's all I see.

Would you pay 40+ million a year for something that you thought was worth 30?

It doesn't matter what fans think about Dak. If it was up to the fans this team would be terrible.

Jerry and Co, do not believe in Dak enough to pay him elite money and I don't blame them for that. I'm glad we aren't willing to pay a good player great plater money.

You guys are quick to give our FO all this credit on how well they draft and evaluate talent. Why does that not apply here? If the same guys that are doing so well evaluating players are telling Jerry that Dak is simply not worth what he is asking why not trust it?

This is the Dallas Cowboys, not the Dallas Prescott's.

40m is a bungle, yet 35m would have been a great deal

What a stupid thread and a stupid opinion..unfortunately, shared by many others on this board too

5m per year gets you nothing in the nfl..do you guys even think before you post?

The damn tag is 37.7 so why would you think he would take less at 30. Nobody is telling them he's not worth it, they offered 35 last season

I can promise you that my opinion was not mainstream at the end of his 4 year deal.

Now people are slowly figuring out what I projected a long time ago.

It doesn't matter though because the owner in the end will be stupid and pay up. Dak's agent knows this but it's still the wrong move.

No.. It wouldn't..

It's just better then this crap deal.

These QB contracts are out of hand. Dak should probably make 20 million a year for the impact he realistically has on the field. If we want to be nice then 25.

35 is still stupid and teams who are doing those deals are still regretting it on the back end.

Russell Wilson, an elite QB, is begging to get out of Seattle and go to a win now team because they found out the hard way what life is like after paying a QB but at least they had a Superbowl in hand.
