You know what I mean..so.e formerly highly rated player who either was severely injured like a Jaylon Smiith in 2019 or 2020 or.sat out last year because of virus and opted not to play in 2020. Jerrah Jones loves a resurrection story like the Peonix to point to as being ahead of the rest drafting.

Also guys like Wolf Hi enter who never played Division I football..only 8 man football we draft him #1. So he was injured you say. No worries..we love him.

Jerry, being owner/gm, can take more risks than normal GMs worried about job security. In theory, that's a benefit. In 2018, it looked like Jerry was hitting a home run on Jaylon, Gregory, and LVE.

And then, not so much in 2019 or 2020.

Looking back, the pick I don't like was LVE. 18 for a LB with limited real play *and* already health issues with his neck?

Jaylon was supposed to be top 5. Got at 34. Compare the draft value for the two. A factor of 3. At some point, the medical eval should tell you to do it. And int 2018, it looked like it was paying off. His leg *regressing* was something I hadn't considered. I thought the big hurdle would be healing at all, not maintaining healing.

The Gregory deal was over 4 to 1 in draft value, considering him a top 10 player.

Since the departure of Jimmy Johnson, the Cowboys have drafted in the top ten 6 times. Greg Ellis, Roy Williams, Terrence Newman, Morris Claiborne, Tyron Smith and Ezekiel Elliot.

With the exception of Morris, they were all very productive. Then again, how difficult is it to botch a top ten. It happens, but when it does, it's considered epic.

My issue has always been in the way they constantly flatline in the 2nd round. Shane Hannah, Kendell Watkins, Sherman Williams, Kavika Pittman, Solomon Page, Dwayne Goodrich, Tony Dixon, Al Johnson, Jacob Rogers, Kevin Burnett, Anthony Fasano, Bruce Carter and Gavin Escobar are all pretty forgettable names.

The idea that you can take an injured college player that might otherwise be a high 1st rounder seems like a bargain on the surface. However, the Cowboy's history on these player's NFL career justifies skepticism.

Then there is the idea that drafting a 1st round talent with issues is justified when you pick them in a lower round. Again, that is a mixed bag. Hopefully Gregory and Lawrence are over their habit of being suspended at the beginning of a season. Those suspensions cost the Cowboys some games. The games are so close these days that the majority are separated by the results of just a play or two.

This #10 overall pick coming up should be used by the Cowboys only if they are absolutely convinced that the draft value as well as the talent and character of the player is justified and relevant. Otherwise, they should trade down. It will be an interesting day.

It's like a backroom craps game for the Jones. Double down and roll.

I just happened to have an old picture from the war room from past years drafts:

Trading down and getting Farley would be this years version.

This is going to happen multiple times with all these extra draft picks. It's like a backroom craps game for the Jones. Double down and roll.

Who agees with me? Come shake our heads together, men. It's that time of year.

Yes. Like a Peonix. Rising from the .... whatever Peonixs rise from.

What a waste of a thread. Can't believe people post things like this.
Stick around, this is nothing. There was a thread a few days ago arguing that Witten didn't deserve to be in the HOF.

The last great draft choice for us in my opinion was Zack Martin. We drafted most worthy we didn’t go for need we didn’t go for position. Until we repeat this no he keeps screwing it up
