The defensive coordinator should never make picks. You get their input on the type of players they want/need. You get their input on draft prospects.

But the actual drafting of the players should not be made by the coaches. In all likelihood they won't be around in 3 years anyway. But I think the organization gets stuck in group think too often and there is no one at the top of the decision making tree who is disciplined and executes a smart plan. Too often they look for others for advice and are easily sold.

Yep. 100% agree.

What's worse is you get fans who kiss every terrible move/pick this team makes (which continues to result in failed results) and have the audacity to call you out in front of everyone simply because one has the historical proven right to question such continued failed draft decisions.

Easy to say harder to do. Easier for coaches to draft guys that fit what they want than to mesh different guys together that all have different skill sets. We've been average at best drafting defense so maybe this year will surprise us. I'm trying to be optimistic don't kill me.

Realistically, it should be a reflex to question anything this team does given the results of the last 25 years.

People were crying about Travis Fredrick when he was drafted. This team has drafted well overall the last decade. I'm willing to give them a little slack in the draft department.

I would love to see the cowboys board to see how these guys were ranked compared to everybody else but since we can't I just hope that these guys are really good scheme fit and are set up to succeed that's all that's all we can do.

You can blame the defensive coordinators if you want but the real blame falls on the fake GM and pretend Director of Personnel. They're the decision makers but because both are empty vessels they have to rely on others to steer them in a direction.

No real war room would allow a coordinator such authority. He's the least informed voice in the room.

We sucked at drafting defense long before Quinn was hied as the DC.

McClay has been pretty bad when it comes to defensive players.
