The Browns.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Browns made it this year.

I don't expect the Cowboys to see the NFC Championship this year.
Even if they do improve, I see Green Bay (assuming Rodgers returns), Tampa Bay, Seattle, LA Rams, Minnesota, WFT, the Niners and the Cardinals as major impediments.

Yeah, the shift in power from AFC to NFC has been dramatic. Rivers, Manning, Brady, Flacco, Alex Smith, and soon Big Ben. All QBs who won many 12+ game seasons and played in nearly all the AFCCG’s over the last decade... gone in the last 5ish years. Mahomes replaced Smith, but with Watson having his troubles and being on the Texans, Pat’s king of the conference almost by default.

The Browns.

I’d say the Cowboys because I feel there are more, tougher contenders in the AFC than the NFC right now.

But kudos on an interesting topic. Who’s have thought it would actually be a thing?

Hate to say it...but the browns are probably in better position than us. If they fix their defense, look out. But we can be significantly better if we fix our D too. IF....

I feel the exact opposite. If the Bills win 8 games this year it’d be disappointing by not a big surprise, especially with the Pats and Dolphins improving in their division. I don’t think the chiefs are gonna miss a SB for awhile, just because there aren’t many elite teams in the AFC.

But Seattle just won 12 games and are getting a lot younger, they’ll be clawing at the door for years now. Tampa obvious are kings, GB if Rodgers stats are always a contender, then you have NO and LAR. NO was strong without a Brees the last few years, any decent QB play and that roster will get them 11+ wins and potentially beat one of the big teams. And then There’s my 2021 sleeper hit: Most people didn’t notice that LAR had far and away the best yardage and scoring defense in the world. I’m on board with Stafford bringing them to the promise land.

GENUINELY believe 5-6 NFC teams could be in the Super Bowl next year. Unless Mahomes is hurt or has major line issues again, the NFC winner will be playing the AFC default champion chiefs

Mayfield has to keep improving. That is the key. The Browns have a lot of talent; but I am not sold on their coaching.

On the other hand I am not sold on our coaching and our D has a fair ways to go.

Forget about the past 25 years. Last year the Browns were a game away from the AFC championship game while the Cowboys were a dumpster fire. So it's pretty obvious to me the Browns are the odds on favorites to be first to get to their respective conference game. It's not hard to see this. But the Cowboys are making great strides from where they were last season. In a season or two, they should be contenders in their conference.

fingers crossed...we've heard the "a season or two" before and for some reason...they just can't get over the hump

Agreed. Interestingly, I’m not sold on Mayfield. I think Dak is- at least at this point- better than Mayfield by quite a bit. The Baker-man is IMO a good but not great QB. When he was at OU, he was the beneficiary of being surrounded by lots of NFL talent when matched up against college teams that had significantly less talent.

Put it this way, Mayfield thinks he’s better than he is. If he ever learns to just play within his talent and reduce his int’s, he’s good enough to take them places. So far in his career, he still thinks he’s the best player on his team and that actually currently holds him back. He’s not playing against college talent anymore but too many of his throws imply he thinks he’s still playing against Kansas instead of Pittsburgh, lol.

Interesting topic so thank you for something refreshing.
Considering that the Browns spent 8 draft picks on defense this year is very similar, so your point is very intriguing that both teams have similar build model.

who gets their 6th Lombardi first, Browns or Cowboys..

yup Cowboys.

.threads a troll alert

..browns are horrible and wouldn't trade moment in our history for theirs, PERIOD..they've been a brown stain on the league for long while and well if they like the jags luck into ONE AFCCG or even a bowl, BIG WHOOP, they have long way to go to catch the cowboys as a franchise ..as Fan that all that matters to me..

it took andy reid his entire career to get sb win 15 years in between his last one.philly only has one , took KC 50(thats 25x2 if you cant do basic math) years between theirs..

the constant BS narratives on 25 years gets old.Our history can never be erased and while the drought sux we arent wlone..it happens. championship seasons are hard, it will come ..

Browns will always suk..

now to the OP if you want leave here trade in the awesome blue silver star for **** brown orange..go ahead i wont miss you as suspect most fans wouldnt either..

Dallas, simply because the AFC is so much tougher than the NFC. With Brady and Rodgers likely retiring or out of the NFC in the next couple of years, the NFC is going to be WIDE open with the relative dearth of QB play. When the 2023 season kicks off the two best NFC QBs will probably be Russell Wilson and Dak. There is a TON of young QB talent in the AFC and most of it is better than Baker.
