It is a point, but the question then turns to “When was the last time he had that?” Because the last time he flirted with the numbers you’re hoping for was 5 years ago now.

1600, then 980 (albeit suspended), then 1300, then 1400, now 900, and then more than 7 Rushing TDs only once in the last 4 years... Zeke can still play, no one is disputing that, but maybe it’s the offense that’s passed him by as you haven’t been “run 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down” for awhile now... especially because of Dak.

With 3 receivers who are all hoping for 1000 yard seasons, I don’t know if it’s a team anymore than needs a 15m$ RB.
He had 1,357 yards just 2 years ago. 1,434 the year before that. A good running game goes a long way in demoralizing a defense.

Dak also was throwing much, much less back then. 100 more attempts in 2019 than 2017. On pace for nearly 200 more attempts last year. Some of it was the defense failing him in 2020, but a lot of it was Mike McCarthy. Mike doesn’t run like Garrett did. He’s even worse than Reid in that respect:

Mike likes to throw the football. According to Pro Football Focus, no other team dropped back to pass more often than the Green Bay Packers between 2014 and 2018. They did so in 66.2% of their plays. He's talked about his offense being designed to make the quarterback successful.

And Jerry isn’t going to pay Dak that contract to give him bus driver plays. What would Zeke’s number have been in 2018 if you removed even just 50 attempts? Not even at the level of diminishing play that it’s progressing toward?

1400+ becomes 1193. The offense is changing, and it’s a good reason... because they believe in their QB

Big year for Zeke for sure. Moore’s still the OC so I see Zeke having another big year.

I think Zeke can be so much more than he has shown lately. I'm hoping to see more from him.

Zeke is spent. He's a replacement level runner at this point. Might offer something on 3rd down as a blocker but you'd probably prefer to have Pollard in there on 3rd down for the explosiveness.

Zeke's replacement in the 2023 draft.
Bijan Robinson University of Texas.
A player you are going to get sick of hearing me talking about.
You thought I was obsessed with Pitts? Just wait.

love this position group.
solid.
☆Zeke
☆Pollard
☆Dowdle
☆Olonilua(FB)

Ralston could be a threat to Olonilua at FB spot.
but i really like our 3 RBs.

Highest paid running back in the game and cost us at least three games last season with Dak on the field for two of those games but ok.:facepalm: You can make the same argument for Jaylon in defense.

Yeah that’s not talked about enough. He not only sucked last year he actually cost them games with turnovers. I hope this is his last year in Dallas. A wasted talent.

Interesting that Pollard at 209 is the lightest of the bunch.
Whatever happened to 180 pound RBs like Dorsett? Do they still exist?

I would have liked to have added a running back in the draft. As much as I want to believe in Zeke, I believe he might have lost something. If given a chance I think Pollard is the better running back for our offense because of his speed.
Not fair to say when he had a below par oline no qb and a Defense that could not get a stop when it counted

I was toying with the idea of making Zeke the FB when you need one and putting Pollard out there as the RB.

Now it's 3rd and 2. Would it be wise to key on the RB? In fact, doesn't this give the Cowboys three excellent options at running the ball?

We could use another RB as backup in case the gods of football curse us again with injuries, but he needs to be a great special teamer as well. I really don't think we need a designated FB.
