We got some dogs in this draft. With the number of defensive rookies, you know they are going on Special teams. i know we always discuss the Special teams coach but I think you also want quality players rather then bottom feeders on special teams. You put Parsons, Cox, Joseph, and the other rookies on special teams then you have speed, aggressiveness and that dog mentality.
This. Could it be that we kill 2 birds with one stone drafting defense for once. Bonus if true. I miss the old Kenny Gant days with the shark fin.

Ko returns are like the fullback, almost extinct.

Punt returns are mostly fair catches because the punters can all kick 45 yards with a hang time of 5 seconds and the gunners are so fast. Most likely any punt return will be brought back because of penalty.

We rarely ever block a punt or FG.

I enjoy opposing teams' shanked punts.

Kickers? Opposing kickers feast at our home field and hardly ever miss. We get a good kicker like Folk or Bailey and just a matter of time before they lose all confidence for some strange reason.

Our kicker and punter are pretty good. I guess. Don't want to jinx them. Don't talk about them. Don't talk to them. Just let them kick.

Longsnappers? Can't get within 5 yards of them or it's a penalty. My guess is the first female player in the NFL will be a longsnapper and it will be within the next 3 years.
Female snapper? What are you smoking. Little un'nerving watching her bend over and snapping b/w her thighs at the punter frankly.

Niswander has been tops from what we've seen of him to this point in time. He will be tested in TC and beyond but so far, so good.

He might get some competition but good luck to whomever is charged with that chore. It'd take an incredible punter to replace him.

I miss fireworks on STs like Gant

They can’t seem to find a decent and consistent PR.
Pollard is one of the most dumbest KR guys I ever seen. Though he did finally have a few decent returns. He just needs to be smarter when not to return it. How ever I would not be opposed if they found someone else.
Seems Niswander may be a decent find at P, much better than injured Jones.
Zeurlein was good but also had some struggles, but was it really all on him.
LP was a huge loss, but MCcQuaide is supposed to be good also.

ST’s improved a lot under Fassell, and I expect them to be better with a year under their belts and a full off season as well.
Better is as better does-Forest Gump circa 1999.

We currently have 2 punters. The other guy was signed as a FA and played under Fassel . Names Hunter. Going to be good to watch the competition in preseason. Last years punter Niswander was pretty good if not great.
I liked hunter last year
All things being equal I’d go with the one who can kick off
I don’t want my kicker having 90 plus kick offs
I’d rather the punter has those KO

Nobody is talking about our special teams at all..

This is our punter...

I have no clue about him...you guys think he is our starter?

What is our expectations? What about KO returns and PRs..who are these guys?

We all know that special teams have been ignored for tears. For once..I want them to be the difference makers in our games drafted alot of speed

Can any of that translate to special teams.

What are your thoughts .is the biggest player CeeDee doing PRs. Or is he too valuable as a WR to risk him getting injured?

What say you guys ?
We have a special teams... I wasn’t aware..

agreed. we do need it to truly become the third phase of our team not the 4th phase of the opponents.

Because of newer league rule changes in KO return, i guess we don't see near as many huge kickoff TDs as in the past years, but we still need to have a kick return threat
as i really believe Pollard was beginning to emerge at one late stretch.

i believe finally his self confidence, ball handling and decision making was finally turning the corner after a hideous start of his last two years as a KR.
If he can be a Cordelle Patterson- like threat that's very much needed to a field position difference maker.

Punt returns we have a bigger problem if we are trying to relieve Lamb of such a burden to better preserve him.
We just do not have anyone else who can fill in the position that's far more than just a Cole Beasley fair catch security blanket.
Cedrick Wilson has the hands and a bit experience as a PR, but he's no threat as a returner, despite the one big fluke PR return his rookie year in preseason.

To each his own when it comes to teams preferring to using their more valuable WRs as primary PRs, ala Antonio Brown with Steelers or a Desean Jackson, Philly
etc, etc... i just like to resort to another option and lesser risk with Lamb, imo.

i believe they brought in some competition vs Niswander, .. i'll leave it to the Bones where and who he sees a better fit.
However i don't see the competition for FG kicker role in camp, so it's looking like Bones going with his handpicked guy in that role.

i thought kick coverage was relatively solid under Bone. i just hope we don't repeat going with those Bones fake punts and tricks that killed us in critical moments
on our half of the field - per McCarthy questionable game management in giving Bones the green light to do such.

This more or less. I would find our fastest DB and see if he can do something. Pollard is a logical choice for sure. I brought the topic up to browse for answers. It's not a glamour topic and goes under our radar here. If it is ignored by the fans the team is not going to do much for sure.

I think Anger will be our punter. His average last year was slightly lower than Niswander's, but he's very good at kicking off, which will take the load off Zuerlein.

I expect Pollard to continue returning kicks and Lambe/Wilson to share punt returning duties. Maybe someone will do something to take those roles, but I don't think we brought in anyone known for their return abilities.
