As a young fan, I'm frustrated

I don’t consider myself an old fan since I’ve never gotten to see Dallas reach the mountain top, but I also don’t consider myself to be a young fan. While I can remember very few select games in 96 and 97 I consider 1998 to be my first year as a real Cowboys fan so I’ve basically been along for the ride during this entire championship drought. However in that time I’ve watched a lot of football and I’ve learned not to get too caught up in the ups and downs of the regular season. There is almost always gonna be this time in a season where things look bad, injuries are piling up, games are being lost and the way forward doesn’t look clear, but part of winning in this league is overcoming that adversity, weathering that storm, and getting yourself a spot in the playoffs despite everything else. If you can get yourself in and be healthy at the right time then you have a chance. The regular season is all about giving yourself the best chance possible in the post season and we’re still in good shape to have a pretty good shot at this thing. Us “never been there” guys have been through a lot but it’s just gonna make it sweeter when we finally break through

I know we were without a lot of key pieces today. I know that it's just one loss and that this was game prior to the season I thought we'd lose. I know we're 7-3. That said, I'm frustrated. I'm always going to be a Cowboys fan, but I don't know success like a lot of you. The best I had seen this team do is make the divisional round before conking out, and this season seems to be starting to trend that way as well. This loss hurt more than usual, despite expecting a loss. It hurt because we had the 1 seed for the taking. I thought after the Atlanta match, we'd showed that we were a different team to what I'd been accustomed to. This season finally was looking like it might be the payoff for all the years of losing I'm accustomed to. There's still plenty of time, and a win against the Raiders and/or the Saints would be huge to helping us get where we want to be. It just hurt today more than usual.
I’m about the same age as you (29) and I agree 100%

I expect we should win the divisional title, and I'll always be a Cowboys fan. Besides, my fursuit (coming soon) has blue stars on it. On that note, I'll soon have a very nice pfp and signature haha. I'm planning on doing a photoshoot at MFF next week with it on so I can get a great pfp and signature here with it.

I figured you were most likely the true-blue type of fan but just thought I'd say something to keep you around. This version of the Cowboys is one of the best in a long time, as you likely know, already. I'm setting my expectations for at least a division crown -- anything more would be icing on the cake. Enjoy you fur suit with the star on it . . . I'll be watching for that sig in the future.

I beg your pardon, no one ever promised you a rose garden.

Us older fans lucked out if we were around for the early 90's when Booger was fighting to keep his head above water and left the football up to Johnson.

I was around for the beginning so I saw a lot that cemented my fanhood to this team and it is my sincerest hope the younger fans that signed on after 95 get to see something but just because this team achieved something in the past doesn't mean they will soon and there are fans that go unrewarded like the Lions who haven't seen much since the 50's or the Browns in the 60's and the WFT faithful has fallen on hard times just like the Cowboys fans.

We are owed nothing so to expect something is a mistake.

We have seen the good, bad and ugly with this team and the jury is out on just where they end up. They could go on another 6 win streak or lose 3 of the 4 division games and to NO and AZ.

It all starts Thursday, time for them to decide what they want to be.

I've been where you are, but, because of a family tragedy I learned about 15 years ago that there are more important things than this....just enjoy the games.

Here's hoping you 29th B-Day will see you enjoying the Cowboys in the midst of a deep playoff run. :flagwave:

I hope so too. Funny enough, my birthday is on the 29 of December

Of course there are. As stated during the game, football is it a game. It's something I watch for enjoyment just as how I am involved with the fandom because it's fun for me.

Yes the Cowboys have certainly been frustrating for a long time, but I finally like where this team is headed. Developing young players, creating competition and finding quality players. These things take time but everyone's in a rush.

I like where we are heading as well. I'm really excited about that. If we had Garrett at this spot, I know we'd be doomed. With McCarthy, I know we have a chance.

at this time, it feels like running on a hamster wheel. When we're rubbish, we're rubbish. When we're doing well, I start thinking we might actually do something, but then the collapse happens without fail and I"m left wondering when we will win one. The best QBs I know are Romo and Dak. Been a supporter since 1999 or 2000. I just want one championship to be able to finally see what it's like.
It's been an odd season. Put up a lot of points each game and then just bottom out one game, hit the jackpot the next, and then another weak effort. Weird. I got nothin'!
