One small comment: Parsons doesn't just run fast, he thinks fast. He is really decisive and IMO, that is just as important as raw foot speed. He sees a play and he goes. When you add in his footspeed, he gets to a play really, really quickly compared to others.

IMO, Parsons is so good that he is the type of player that you build around. Coaches, scheme and teammates should be people who complement him.
This is a very, very good point. It isn’t just rare athleticism… it is also a football mind that really processes what he’s seeing very quickly.

Put them both together and you have a guy making plays that just don’t look quite right because he’s getting there more quickly than our eyes expect the defender to.

He’s phenomenal, and you’re right, it is because he thinks as quickly as he moves.

I think we should convert to Base 3-4 effective immediately. We have depth everywhere for this personnel and defensive scheme. We have the NTs (Watkins, Hamilton, Bohanna), 3Ts (Odighizuwa, Gallimore, Hill), 5Ts (Lawrence, Golston, Hill, Armstrong), and OLBs (Parsons, Gregory, Armstrong, Golston, Basham) to make the scheme not only work, but thrive.

You absolutely cannot argue with a clear conscience anymore that we don't have the proper personnel for a 3-4 base defense.
:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:Mr. DC who knows more than an NFL DC :lmao::lmao::lmao: What’s your resume? Did you get the chest code to Madden?

Does this mean that with his intellect diagnosing the things happening around him that there will be a time when he has Sean Lee's awareness and identification skills to set the defense in the way of the point of attack?

I'm agreeing with what everyone is saying. His football IQ, overall intelligence, closing speed, separation from blockers. But the one thing that sticks out to me that I don't know if anyone has mentioned: he tackles. He simply tackles and sacks people.

How many years did we watch LBers like Jaylon, LVE, Brady James etc, that would have the closing speed and everything else but miss the ball carrier. Parsons makes open field tackles on the regular. He's disruptive, he's fast, and he has to be accounted for every play. But when he gets there, he makes the play. He doesn't get juked by QBs, ran over by RBs or wraps up a guy just to lose his grip and the runner goes for 20 yards on us.

The dude is fun to watch. I'm so excited about this guy. When Hill went into the flat and I saw 11 with him one on one, I knew it would be a sack. For so many years we saw our defenders be right there but miss the play. It's so much fun seeing Parsons being there and making the tackle.
