What Will We Do With Parsons When Gregory Comes Back?

Who's the better pass rusher? Parsons or Gregory? My pick: Parsons

We need to play to our strengths. You cannot have not only YOUR best pass rusher, but one of the best pass rushers in the NFL 15 yards down field in coverage on a RB or TE the majority of the time.

I fear the once we have Gregory and Lawrence back that the coaches are going to screw this up by taking an elite edge rusher and making him play LB 85% of the time.

Let's stop pretending, okay? Parsons is LT, Von Miller, or Derrick Thomas. That's what we have here. Let's not get cute with it.

I’ll trust the coaches. You seem to WANT something to worry about. Getting Gregory back is a GOOD thing! They can play Parsons all over the place.

Lord have mercy. This is not a problem. Giants had no problem lining up JPP, Osi, Tuck and Kiwanuka.. their NASCAR package and beating the crap out of Brady in the Super Bowl. I’m sure the Coaches will find a way to deal with this non problem.

I want to do what's best.

Just because you can play Parsons all over the place doesn't mean that's the best thing to do for the team. I'd much rather he rush the passer than be completely taken out of plays by being in coverage.

The reason I worry is I see what they are doing with Zeke. They are playing a hurt RB that is clearly not good right now over a guy that just seems to make plays every chance he gets. I can 100% see them trying to force Parsons to be a typical LB when he is so much more than that.

What they’re doing with Zeke has nothing to do with Parsons. It seems like your adding this to support the notion that the coaches are bumbling fools.

Yes, it's been my concern. We are absolutely dumb enough to let two inferior players returning minimize the one great player we have.

We'll see how it all shakes out but if Micah has less pass rush reps these next 5 games as he's had the last 5, chalk it up to another coat hanger abortion of a decision this team has made over the years.

I don't think we should sit them at all, but we shouldn't have our best pass rusher rushing the passer at a much more reduced rate.
I think QUinn maybe salivating and thinking of ways to use all three and unleash Parsons, since teams can't now just focus on Parsons any more (and he still beat them). having a full strength DL can only make parsons better.

Don't forget, we will get Gallimore back, and Hill. Both of them in the middle will be a big help. If they play like the team and fans hopes they can play. From what was expected at the beginning of the season. Though both were out from the start.

Not only if they can run block. But if they can pass rush also, as an unit, then there are now 5 players an offense needs to contend with. Some one will get double teamed, possibly, then who get to the QB, or they need to keep an extra blocker in. Which means the secondary has one less receiver to cover.

Well, in theory this should work. But need to see it first.
it may take gallimore a couple of games to really get acclimated....

I think you assign Parsons to “Spy” and attack the ball. He is capable of doing that, we’re normally no one could pull that off. Attack the ball weather be the run or pass. Go after whoever has it as fast as he can. Permanent ball blitzed.

Not much, as far as winning championships, but they know more about it than you or me.
I think you and I both could have won nothing in the past 25 years if we was in charge. They've won just as much as you and I. I think it's time to stop trusting them to do the right things so much.

They are literally doing the wrong thing right now with Zeke and everyone, fans, and media knows it and calls it out, but they charge ahead and it's hurting us as an offense. I have no faith that they don't do the same thing with this situation.

Imagine watching the job Dan Quinn has done this season, having Parsons, Lawrence and Gregory on the field at the same time and thinking that we have a problem.

And while I think we can agree that Parsons is a better pass rusher than Lawrence, there were a few games where Gregory was rushing the passer at an ELITE level as well. The gap is not that far different. Lawrence sets the edge better than either of them.

Having three chess pieces like this who can move around and create pressure in different ways is a luxury.

You play Parsons at LB on 1st and 2nd down - teams will adjust and start to throw on these downs to keep Parsons from rushing, we have the advantage if we know they will pass. On passing situations, you bring Parsons down and add him to Dlaw, Gregory and a 4th linemen (Gallimore, Osu, Hill). Our 4 are better than their 5, so they will have to do 1 of two things, quick passes (get the CB up on the ball and force them to throw into tight contested windows).. or they will keep people in to block, so we will have 7 covering 4 - should be a win for us as well. There is no bad scenerio when we have all our Passrushers healthly.

The Cowboys are a poor 2nd level team on D. Put that man to work.

Keep fresher legs in the game. More rotations, to help reduce injury and fatigue and of course for playoff runs.

I don't know their plan or I'd tell you. ;)

I will say that having the entire D-line rotation back can only be a good thing.
If Galli can return and improve on what he was doing last season, he and Odigi will give us some major inside pass rush. D-Law, Gregory and Parsons are all very capable pass rushers so between the 5 of them we should be able to put major pressure on the QBs on every passing down.
But my concern is the run defense. Losing Urban hurts. Watkins and Hamilton are't great but ok. Unless Hill can be that guy, we still don't have a lane stuffer in the middle of the line. I had (and still do) have hopes for Bohanna but so far he isn't that guy.
