How much does home field advantage actually help?

not the temps really but weather wind, rain, and slippery slow turf and ball is heavier and harder to carry and throw's..for sure effects the game and can be an evening factor like this weekend we are clearly the better team but playing outdoors in moisture, windy, cold weather will help WFT ugly up the game.

although both teams have to paly in it so while a factor, not as big a deal as most make it..like 2019 NE game both brady and dak played bad..was an ugly game we lost.

ive always found it odd coaches say they rather have clean indoor productive week of practice vs go emulate a game they have that week by going outside in wet , cold, and conditions that might help the prepare for the weather..i see it all the time most say that..

Im throwing's our guy's into the outdoor field with the sprinklers running and make them practice in all one of the days..

Yes yes and well.....yes! Agree with all that.

In Dallas NONE! Worst in stadium fans in all of sports and this goes all the back to Landry too. There was a little bit of a home field advantage when Jimmy Johnson was coach but not much. As a Cowboy's fan for 45 years it's easy to say that Cowboy fans provide zero 12th man effect at games. When you can hear the other team's quarterback call signals and autibles it's safe to say that's it's no big deal when you go on the road to Dallas and it's very embarrassing.

Doesn’t matter if there were no fans in the stadium.

Hopping in a plane, sleeping in a hotel, and going through all of that to play a football game doesn’t make things better.

Of course home field is an advantage. This conversation is silly.

Dallas fans are very capable of making plenty of noise. I know this firsthand.

Thing is....they aren't going to create that on their own and inspire the team.

They need the team to show them they are real, then the crowd and noise will show up.

Local fans are fickle and frontrunning in that way. Sorry if thats offensive but I've spent much time in the area back when going to games and getting to know locals.

There was a major home field advantage in Taxas Stadium when the team was really good.

But it was the team that inspired the fans, not the other way around.

home teams are 91-98 overall this season. The value of home field is decreasing. It’s not gone entirely. Just not what it once was.
That's interesting although it is a small sample. Maybe it really is less now than it used to be. I'd like a to look at longer timeframe but if it holds up I wonder why.

So you travel someplace else to play a game. When the other team scores, everyone cheers. When you score, not that many people cheer. I can't see this really bothering any professional athlete. Of course, there is the crowd noise issue when your offense is out there, but most teams have mastered the silent count. Maybe greater familiarity with the field might be an advantage to some home teams, but is that really that big of a deal?

I don't see the home field advantage as being that great. I guess I could be wrong. Do you guys think it makes a big difference?
It’s a big difference playing in January n a dome warm than playing n greenbay 10 degree weather ohhhhh it matters

Its not only home field but it means typically you were the better team and got home field

it'll help if fans start foaming at the mouth while rolling their eyes in the back of their head and screaming "Hah bah dem Cowboys!!!!"

For the sake of staying on topic, crowd noise on the Road isn't much of an issue for the GLAMOUR teams of the NFL.. Thursday night's matchup between Vikings vs. Steelers was a prime example of a visiting team's fans taking over the home team's stadium. Tell me the last time that the Cowboys were on the ROAD and didn't have a significant amount of fans wearing BLUE & SILVER cheering for them? I'll wait..
