Lots of talk about the Cowboys having the second most penalties called on them, but they've also benefitted the second most in terms of penalties called on their opponents.

Dallas has been penalized 112 times. Their opponents have been flagged 111 times. Only Pittsburgh's opponents have been penalized more often (112).

Remember 2 or 3 years ago when the Cowboys opponents almost never got called for offensive holding? Through 15 games, the Cowboys opponents have the most offensive holding calls. It seems having better linemen (not to mention Micah Parsons) causes your opponent to hold more often. Go figure.

Great post. Losers blame the refs so I agree that it is typically a wash. I’m sick of fans blaming the refs for our teams shortcomings.

yes good info!

do not let any one on the team coach or player off the hook for there bad performance

they all need to own it and the fan should hold them to a high standerd if they are real contender!

Updated after today's game:

Cowboys penalties - 122
Cowboys opponent penalties - 117

BOTH, not just one, are the most in the NFL.

All this says is the refs control cowboys games by far more than others..all penalties aren't created equal...

Someone asked when was the last time Dallas was not top five in the league in penalties, but the post has been deleted.

The last time Dallas was top five in the league in penalties was 2009. So the answer to that question is every year since then, until now.

I've been waiting for that rationalization. Thanks. :muttley:
I'm just saying if you don't don't the refs can swing games too easily then we see it different. I'm not blaming them playing terribly on refs.

I see a fan looking for excuses. After 26 years of Jerry & Son playing fantasy football, I understand, but 'the refs" aren't the Cowboys real problem. It starts at the top.

I think most people would agree that refs can swing games. It's the part where they deliberately do so (weekly, it seems) to the detriment of the Cowboys that is laughable.

League-wide the refs just suck.

Nobody cares about how many penalties teams get. The issue we have as fans is WHEN those penalties are being called. Anytime we gain momentum a play gets called back by a penalty. If they want to call all of our penalties at times in the game that don't matter? Have at it.
