Finally got to watch this game and this game was not on Dak

His first pass was NOT almost a pick.

Just because a defender lunges at a ball doesn't mean it is almost picked. He didn't even touch it.

Also, the actual almost pick of the smoke screen was not on Dak either...that is on the playcaller. Dak has no choice but to get rid of that ball with a defender on him and that being his only option.

Sure the play call might have been bad but Dak is also supposed to see what's happening and it became clear as day the Cards had the play read. You can see Baker and the defense shift over and Baker ran exactly to the right spot. Dak probably figured he could get the ball to the WR before Baker got there but nope. Ergo, not the smartest pass.

Ya'll haters are crazy with hate.

This game was not on Dak. If anything, Dak kept us in this game.

I counted 5 batted balls and 2 drops. That is 7 of his 14 incompletes for the game.

There were 2 passes I would deem bad by him. 2.

His fumble in the 2nd to last drive...it sucks, but it happens and was a great play by the defender. I am more happy that he ran the way he did making people miss (more than Zeke did all game) and not afraid of his leg. If that 22 yard run didn't get called back, he had 2 less yards running than Kyler that you all think is the 2nd coming.

THis game was not on him but here is what was the cause of the loss:

  • The total lack of a running game and threat of the run. Just anemic. No one respects Zeke as he is clearly hurt.
  • Horrible penalties. Many advantageous 3rd downs turned into much more difficult 3rd downs.
  • Another crushing missed chip shot fg.
  • Jayron dropping that gimme pick in the end zone.
  • The HORRIBLE non-fumble call on a clear fumble at the end of the game. The defense finally made a play and the refs screw us. We last saw the ball with over 4 min left...never get it back. Clearly this is Dak's Fault.

You guys are all dejected and blaming our QB but I am encouraged. I see us beating them in the playoffs. I really do. I expect our defense to clamp them down even more and I expect our offense to not shoot themselves in the foot like they did today.

Nice to see someone with a brain dissect things. Yes our running game sucks. But the "zeke is hurt" things doesnt cut it anymore. Zeke is just done. He drops easy passes too.

This D really didnt come to play today. Penalties really screwed us all game on both sides of the ball. This entire team took the night off. Very discouraging as I see a pattern with these guys think they have arrived and they havent. We should have won this game no problem today.

I mean I guess but they had chances to make stops before that but gave up a ton of big gainers - 15, 7, 11, etc.

They never even forced the Cards into a 3rd down on that last drive, I believe.
In general I agree. This defense lives and dies with turnovers. If they get them then they are world beaters, but turnovers are tough to count on. When teams take care of the ball we give up 25+.

Oh he didn't lose the game all by himself. But to say he kept us in the game is bizarre and shows your blatant Dak homerism.

What were the 2 bad passes only that you saw?

So who exactly was that bringing us all the way back in the 4th quarter? Defense gives Dak the ball back and its a W.

we're cowboys fans on a message board dedicated exclusively to the cowboys....how the hell does that NOT make us ALL homers?

Pretty clear what team or player homers are. They are those that see a team or a particular player in a positive light all the time. The Dak homer is the guy who claims he played great, when he did not, and then says things like "Aikman doesn't know what he's talking about, that was a good Dak pass".

That's a homer.

I have stood up for Dak and will continue to do so, but I also am realistic enough to call him out when he plays poorly.

Today he did. Almost had a pick on his first pass (although to be fair so did Murray). Overthrew Cooper once. Missed him twice on slants. Had a wide open receiver deep on a short pass to Schultz (Troy Aikman called out this one). Didn't protect the ball on a run that led to Arizona's last field goal.

When the team struggles like it did today, Dak presses and tries to do too much. Then he lets one mistake compound into more mistakes. I think this is the crux of the Dak "problem". He needs to go back to playing within himself and not try to win the game on every pass.

I am a big Dak fan. He's a tough competitor with the heart of a lion and has all the leadership qualities and the work ethic you want in your franchise QB. The entire team respects him as the leader and he holds himself accountable.

But today was rough. Not as rough as some games during the "slump" but rough nonetheless. Whatever funk he is in needs to end fast.
This is a correct observation

Arizona was missing top 2 CBs, their left tackle, top WR, and their running back. We lost to them short handed.
Uhhhh...Byron Murphy played. He is the top corner. Unless you think we can't overcome a CB with 4 passes defensed?

Top Wr isn't coming back this year, it is unfortunate but it happens.

Yes, Conner is a nice RB but I would argue we played without a RB today lol

Not worried about their LT

So who exactly was that bringing us all the way back in the 4th quarter? Defense gives Dak the ball back and its a W.

A game is 60 minutes long. If the reason they have to come back in a game late is because the QB and offense played pretty mediocre up until that point, then it's hard to then say, gee, what a great game by those guys.

Let's take your favorite player and an extreme example. If Elliott has 14 rushes for 18 yards but then rips off a 20 yard TD on a screen to win the game, no, he didn't have a great game. Because the reason they needed that late TD would be, in part, because Elliott didn't play well up until that point.

And no, we can't assume that it's a W if the defense gives the ball back to the offense. Likely, we tie it if Greg Z can actually make a kick and then in OT, anything can happen.

Your first point about zeke hurt is probably the biggest. It’ll be tough for them to do anything in the playoffs without a run game. They should have already been sitting zeke for 2 weeks, he could have had a month off, Pollard too. Instead they pushed it, the RBs will have nothing for the playoffs.

I’d get Clement ready and draft a new Rb, nothing about zeke it’s just too long of a season now. Well maybe it’s a little about zeke, he’s got a lot of wear on his tires. Personally I’m ready for right after the season the good ole, minor cleanup surgery he’ll be 100 for next year bs.

Other than the run game, overall the team was flat. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Dallas is already in the playoffs and the rest of the reg season doesn’t matter, believe they knew that. The team was on holiday break. On the other hand Ariz. was fighting for their season.

If Phili still has a shot to make the playoffs next week I expect a game similar to today’s. Losing Gallup was big too, luckily Wilson is a great backup #3.

Dak is somewhere between the appallingly average he showed today and the fantastic he showed against Washington High last week.

One thing is for sure, no way he’s improving with the current line play. They’re the worst unit on the team bar none.

11-5 and the #1 offense in the NFL. Sorry, but you lose the argument badly.

Dak didn't have his best game but when you are down by 3 points and have ~4 minutes left, you'd expect our supposed vaunted defense to make a stop and get the ball back to the offense with some time left.
The Cards were able to run out the clock. That was pathetic.

I hoped our D will rise up to the challenge and get the ball back , only worry was how much time will be left and offense could get it down.

What's funny is that he rips people for being melodramatic with how bad Prescott played (and in fairness, Prescott didn't play poorly or bad), but then he follows that up by saying Dak essentially kept us in the game. Ken tends to often go to the opposite extreme of the Dak haters.

Dak was fine today. He wasn't terrible. He wasn't great. Yes, there were other issues on the O, but you still would like your highly paid (because we were told he was "elite") QB to play great in big, important games.
Yes, this qb had us to within 3 and likely would have tied or won the game had we gotten the ball back again.

I am often, OFTEN, correct when I speak football. Feel free to go back through my posts and point out all of my inaccuracies.

You will note I said this defense would be great by this time in the year early in the season when guys like you were jumping off buildings....

Not sure what game your watching....but he had 3 fumbles....and should of had 2 INTS. You just can't turn the ball over like that...and expect to have success.
