It's a good thing the Packers beat them too. They had our number after Jimmy left. Won three in a row. Twice in 94 and 1 in 95. The Cowboys had the Packers number. It was a rock, paper, scissors thing that went our way that year.
100%. I remember once the Pack upset Steve Young and the Niners that year I knew the SB was ours.
That year the Niners came to Dallas with Elvis Grbac and spanked us in the regular season.

They sure could call a game. It's Romo time now.
Man I hate to admit it, but for me, listening to Romo in the booth is an absolute beating. He waaaaay over-talks and at times isn’t even well prepared for the broadcast with names and facts. His whole broadcast bit is predicting plays based on defensive coverages.

For me, I just want to watch the game, not have Romo breathlessly tell me about what the safeties are doing and what that means. I like a “less is more” approach to TV sports. I prefer Aikman.

After Jimmy left that team was never the same. I know that’s obvious. They were more talented than SF but we’re outcoached with Shanahan, Siefert, etc. They lost their swagger.

To be honest, nothing against Madden, but football hasn’t been the same since Summeral & Brookshire.
Summerall and Brookie we’re a great team for sure (you’re showing your age, especially for these youngins who think that Buck & Aikman have been the ONLY commentators since Fox began airing NFL games), but Summerall and Madden were/will be the class act for YEARS to come!

Nothing was better than Madden saying "Moose is loose" and talking about Nate Newton and Big Eric Williams. Summeral and Madden were the best. I miss those voices.

I actually miss how he used to point out the sweat lines on the Cowboys Linemen’s pants. That and they always showed the sun going down over Texas Stadium. Really miss those days!

An era that's come and gone. Time to make new good memories of the Cowboys defeating the 49ers. What doesn't seem right is this is a wild card game. ;)

Do you remember the the 1 hour show hosted by Messrs Brookshire n Summerall called "This Week in Pro Football"? Might have been a half hour show originally....don't remember.

It is how I got to see the Cowboys and Raiders highlights most weeks. Always made sure to be home to watch...Saturdays I believe.

"This Week In Pro Football" is iconic in the history of professional football. It was then, and remains, a classic show.

Go Cowboys!

I hear ya. Aikman is fine, I just can't stand Buck. So, I prefer listening to Romo-domus get the next play wrong.

I do indeed! Those two guys were great! From what I understand, they shut many a watering hole down anywhere there was a stadium :)

Well - free agency really began to take hold as well .. Remember Ken Norton Jr. left the very next year after the 1st SB - been a revolving door ever since. Has really diminished the game as far as I'm concerned.

I still have the image of Erik Williams drinking a whole bunch of water and then blowing it out. Madden did a play by play of that moment. He said you drink cuz you're thirsty but don't want to be weighed down so you blow it out. Classic Madden and classic Cowboys
