After the pain of this latest nut kick has calmed down enough.. we must endeavor to figure out to avoid a repeat next season. Here's mine..

#1 ) Fire Philbin - The o-line struggles are on him.. These guys are too good to be getting whipped with this much regularity. he gotta go...

#2) and maybe 1a) replace Williams.. too many holding calls and too many times pushed back into the QB or the running back.. He gotta go.

#3) Pray somebody hires Kellen Moore away.. When teams are all saying the same thing about how to stop your offense (and it keeps working) then it's time for a new offense. The Cowboys have never been good when they could not run the ball consistently.. and Moore does not want to run the ball at all. He gotta go.

#4) Draft another Micah Parsons.. no not necessarily another super freak linebacker.. just another hungry play maker on defense. Failing that, get us a dawg for the offensive line to replace either Williams or Biadasz.. better if we could replace both.. maybe one draft pick, maybe one FA vet.

#5) Get healthy.. Captain Obvious right.. The big three of Dak, Zeke and Tyron being dinged up frankly derailed this season as much as anything.. Neither of these guys was the same player after their injury and the cumulative effect on the offense when THEY dropped off was monumental.

#6) Put all the DTs on whatever program Neville Gallimore was on.. Dude clearly put on 25-30 pounds of muscle this offseason and came back a completely different body type. He now has 1-tech size and 3-tech agility.

#7) Pay whatever it takes to keep Dan Quinn.. that turnaround on defense was amazing. Even in this playoff game after getting run over early the adjustments to slow the 49ers down were impressive.

I'm sure there are other areas folks would like to give attention.. but these were the first ones that leapt to mind for me. By all means.. please share yours..

Williams will be gone. His contract is up and he likely cashes in (using his Dallas rep) somewhere like New York.

I think we need a monster DT like Jordan Davis. We need somebody nasty up the middle. I like Osa, I like Gallimore etc. But they just aren't that nasty behemoth in the middle.

Besides the obvious unwillingness to adapt, I feel like our offense is too vertical. It takes for-ev-er to develop and is boom or bust. I think Dak is better suited to run a west coast offense.
My only problem with that, is that it requires quick reads and accuracy. Dak is not known for his precision throwing

All of this sounds good. We can only hope at least some of these things come to fruition.

You were wrong about Dak.

You know that, right?

Huh? Dak had a bad game.. like about 35 other guys on the team not the least of which was the 5 guys who were supposed to be blocking for him.. You want to blame him for the loss go ahead.. It's not a game I'm interested in playing.. The only thing I will blame Dak for was not running more when the lanes were there.. Once the 49ers proved that they could stop the run and get pressure with 4 and drop 7 there were not going to be a lot of guys open and his legs were going to be very important. The fact that he did not use them bothers me more than anything else. Sometimes as the QB you gotta put the team on your back and drag them along.. He didn't do that.. For him that should have been running for 75-80 yards... Only he can explain why he didn't.

Gotta move on from Zeke. This is the one big thing you continue to fail to realize. Zeke is limited and is no longer a good back.

I'm not going to judge him based on 12 games played on one leg.. I think it's more fair to judge him based on what he was BEFORE he got hurt.. which was 5.5 ypc and > 90 yards/game. I think most people would take that over the course of a season. The coaches and trainers blew it by not letting him get scoped right when he hurt it. Yes he might have missed 8-10 games but who cares? He would have been back breathing fire for the playoffs. The bigger question IMHO is why did they keep him in the lineup over Pollard and Clement et al if they knew he had a torn ligament in his damn knee. That was stupid by all parties involved.

Excellent list. I would just add that the placekicking game was as much a liability as some of the team weaknesses you mention.

I'd draft the best ol available in the 1st and a lb (second round), FA is for depth like at rb

It’s going to be difficult for the team to be better in 2022 with 21 unrestricted free agents. We’re going to lose some talent. Stephen already said the Cowboys aren’t going to sign any high-priced free agents. The team is going to need a good draft. If the coaching doesn’t get better and the team doesn’t reduce the penalties we’re likely to take a step back in 2022. The Cowboys are fortunate they play in a division with teams that don’t have solid QBs. That should keep them in contention for the NFC East until someone hits on a QB.

He was bad last year too. And this one leg things is laughable.

Zeke is done buddy. Not sure what is so difficult about some of you admitting that. The guy is past the useful years for most RB's and he has way too many carries already. Makes sense.

ANY good RB can dominate when the Oline is blowing open holes. Nothing special about Zeke anymore. Nothing at all. And his salary is terrible for the team. So now he is hurting them on the field and in the wallet.

Yes Williams will be gone, and the sad thing is his penalty issues will be corrected once he signs on with another team just you wait and see.... I firmly believe that since we don't practice accountability around these parts he is a product of the system..

I can explain why he didn't.

He has a very low football IQ. That's why the Broncos showed that if you don't blitz, disguise things a bit, and make him think more he looks like a deer in headlights.

Dak Prescott will NEVER lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl... so here's my solution:

1. Use the remainder of Daks contract to build a solid foundation. When Dak's contract is up the only guys that should have big contracts is Parsons, Diggs, and Lamb. Lamb and Diggs might can walk too depending on how they improve in the next 3 years.

2. ZERO "win now" type of moves. There is no "win now" situation with Dak at QB.

3. Go young with the O-line. In 3 years Martin will be on his last legs and Smith will be gone. It's time to start rebuilding that bad boy.

4. Do not waste a high draft pick on a RB. RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Zeke was hopefully a lesson learned.

5. Continue to improve the defense through the draft.

6. Have a solid foundation in place and ready for a real QB to take over in 3 years. And by real QB I don't mean some bum undrafted or 4th round dual threat guy that overachieves and Jerry overreacts and thinks he's found the next Tom Brady. Brady is an outlier. The next Cowboys QB should be a big time FA or a QB drafted in the 1st or 2nd round within the next 2 years.

There ya go. That's how the Cowboys can build a real contender instead of being pretenders every year.

Yah I am not sure about some of that. Draft will bring in more young talent. Some of these holdovers will get better especially at DT and secondary. We will lose some talent for sure.

Moore needs to go.

For me, if we are going to run Zeke 70% of the time again, then there is no hope. And yah we need to clean up the penalties. Oline should be the focus in the draft.

Williams holds because he gets beat. He will continue to get beat wherever he goes.

Accountibility? Dont forget they benched him for 4 or 5 games because of the holding.
