I think itt was likely Zeke's agent who can likely take credit for knowing when to sign Zeke and Zeke was wise to listen to him. Jerry might have been even wiser not to cater to it, but Jerry isn't especially adept at contractual decisions. He and Stephen tend to get outsmarted by crafty player agents.

He got his money before he fell off. Now set for life if he's not dumb with his money. Had he waited one more season he wouldn't have gotten paid nearly what he got. On the flip side, his contract hurts Dallas.
The offense was non-existent without #21 and that's why he got OVERPAID!
Does anyone remember 15 str8 Quarters of the offense without 1 single TD during his 6 game suspension?
Once again the above is exclusive of our inept passing attack and QB which no defense fears!
PAY THE MAN!!!!!!!

You're exactly right, but he's hurting Dallas more than his contract. I'd have to look, but I think Dallas only has to endure 1 year of a stupid high cap hit. Next year.

Yep, he's not married he has no kids to feed or buy shoes for. He can't take care of his family, your family, my family at 25 mill a year, sure he can.

40 mill for a single guy is simply greedy, no way around it, and......all that endorsement.$$$$$. Let's be honest he has never been up there with the top guys so why pay him as if he were?

Because someone else will? That's for the GM to decide. How good they are doesn't matter. Quarterbacks get market value after their rookie contract if signed by the team that drafted them.

I'm sure if Mayfield or Jackson would accept half market value they'd be signed by now.

I said it at the time.... don't give him the money and let him come crawling back. Anyone can see he was already slipping ..

Dumb signing.
Easily said now. At the time, Cowboys nation pleaded with Jerry to sign him. He listened!

No he is washed. That is two years in a row of sub par play. Last year it was marginal running couple with fumbles ...

This year he couldn't run at all.

He did have that injury. Maybe he lost focus?

He was smart. After carrying the offense his first few seasons with 350+ touches in 2 out of 3 years, he realized they were going to run him into the ground and then give him the Demarco Murray treatment. He had Jones against the ropes because Jones knew the offense would go nowhere without a great rushing attack, and up until that point, Zeke had provided that.

I'm a BIG Zeke fan.. He carried this offence for two years.. and was smart to get his 'chips in the pot' when the cards were hot. Despite my belief that Zeke is our offence.. he was paid too much and it will ultimately hurt this team, especially as injuries haven't been kind.

But the bigger reason to hate on Zeke is the fact that he cost this franchise any hope of success because he made Dak looks so good that we are lumped with that huge dumpster fire at QB for the foreseeable future.

Without Zeke.. No one even remembers that guy Dak that came in for a couple of games to relieve Romo and was inaccurate, slow to read plays and looked every bit a 4th rounder.

For what it is worth.. get this guy healthy and put him on another team.. and you would still see a formidable RB. He is elite in the pass block and was explosive when fit this season. I agree not worth his contract especially with an OC that can't scheme for the run.. but Zeke is not the main problem.

Some on this thread wouldn't like own annual evaluation and compensation thoughts be criteria for their own compensation at the 9-5, like they want Zeke's compensation to be based on. Glad I don't have to see any across the table during mine.

I dont think Zeke is wash up. He still have thread but he has been under performing. Maybe its scheme or injuries?

He's washed up in some much as he can't and probably wont play up to his contract of $35m for the next two years.

He may be injured (possibly is) and the system may be limited, however, neither issues justify continuing to pay him after 2022.

It was crazy to negotiate with 2 years left on his contract, it was crazy to give a RB(any rb) that kind of contract then even crazier to hire an OC that is pass happy and not been very good at scheming the RBs.

I'm sure it was his agent that saw the opportunity. Jerry Jones probably has a reputation among the agents as someone who thinks more emotionally than practical.

They could of let him walk this off season and eat his salary but now it seems his salary looks like a ball and chain with Daks salary eating into the cap. I think he was smart to get paid and his contract is not great but its really peanuts compared to how Daks contract is strangling this team.

These guys have smart agents. I just didn’t like him doing it 2 years early. Never expected him to play the 5th year. He will be healthy next year..

Him and his Agent played Jerry like a cheap fiddle.

If Hebert or Burrows or Allen were QB at the time do you think Zeke would even dare to hold out????
All roads/actions of mistakes/despair lead to the ineptness of 666.,.......

From his standpoint, sure it was absolutely time to lock in a payday.
RB's tend to really get screwed in this league. Having seen that many times, I didn't mind him looking for security.
Wasn't a fan of how far he pushed it or that Jerry gave him everything he wanted. Coulda met more in the middle & I wouldn't have had a problem with it.
